What an amazing week at #BIO2024. I know I am a little biased, but the convention is always at its best when it’s in San Diego! This energy was on full display throughout the conference, especially on the first day of panels. I had the opportunity to plan and moderate a standing room only business development and finance track panel called An Insider Look at Top Deals from 2023 which featured Mark McKenna , Enoch Kariuki, PharmD and Ken Song sharing stories and insights on their top deals.

1. Don’t build to sell - ... To do this, you need to make a solid plan, assemble the best team, raise enough capital, proudly tell your story and generate the data to prove your value.

2. Your ecosystem is everything - ...deal making is a team sport, not a solo endeavor. Surrounding yourself with excellent advisors is key ...

3. Speed matters - Key to keeping the momentum and maintaining speed is making sure you are talking to the right person as part of the deal making process. ll panelists agreed that if you are not interacting with the CEO or someone who reports to the CEO, the deal is probably not happing.

4. Be willing to give up …. a lot - Companies that do a lot of deals are savvy and may force you to confront challenging situations to remove deal making obstacles. These could include management styles, communication approaches, specific programs, or even leadership team members that are not conducive to getting successful deals done.

Trust the process and it will be worth it in the end.

To overcome the inefficient accumulation of therapeutic drugs at the tumor sites, Feng et al. co-loaded the chemotherapeutic drugs SRA737 and DOX into a liposome-like nanoporphyrin (Pp18-lipos) to construct Pp18-lipos@SRA737&DOX (PSDL) for the controlled formation of ROS (Fig. 6A). Further, US stimulation increased the release of DOX by approximately 40–70% because the sonosensitive porphyrin in Pp18-lipos can induce liposome rupture (Fig. 6B), therefore boosting chemotherapeutic effectiveness and enhancing SDT efficacy.

In conclusion, nanomaterials, nanomaterial-based drug delivery systems offer promising strategies for overcoming the immunosuppressive TME, providing new hope for effectively inducing anti-tumor immunity and achieving synergistic therapeutic effects. However, the design and fabrication of these systems often involve complex processes and high costs, limiting their widespread application. Therefore, developing a simple yet effective sono-immunotherapy reagent and strategy has become a key research focus in this field.

Dear SOG, Regarding use being in a similar position to Chimerix. If you look at their share chart, the price increases after the initial offer in December 2023 as the board presumably reports the news. Happily, the price eventually increased by 750%. However, before the rise, their share price showed no movement in the previous months. If we are in a not-too-dissimilar position, where exactly would we be? Would the board be privy to any pre-released offers? And when would they need to disclose any such discussions to shareholders? Thanks
