I’ve lost £110k on paper before this announcement and I’m 45% equities and 55% bonds and overnight monies. Others will be down a lot more. Hopefully I’ll get most of it back in the coming days 🤞

Disagree skier my old pal. Trump has barely been in office a few months. He could have given a 6 month notice that if unfair trading arrangements were not addressed by negotiation, then he was going to take action. I’d have agreed with that. Not trash the markets like he has. I would imagine that his advisors have told him that US treasuries are not holding up. The bond markets are normally right, not always but mostly.

He needs a face saver of course hardup. The billionaires who supported him are uneasy now. Musk likewise.

I’ve said before that tariffs and currency manipulation needs addressing. I couldn’t give a 💩 about China mate. But tanking the world markets was not the best policy IMHO.

Trump has it in for the rest of the world but he’s tanking global markets. He is leading the US down an Isolationist route. Agree with you on most things pal but the nuclear option was not the best policy. This could have been done much more subtly.

It won’t be long until China takes Taiwan and it will happen during the Trump presidency is my view. Russia takes large parts of Ukraine, Trump has desires on Canada and Greenland so my guess is China will be emboldened to take Taiwan. 3 heads of state baddies divvying up the world.

Zelensky is claiming he has proof to the contrary. We shall see. Putin has used troops from North Korea so I don’t see why China would be off limits.

Don’t think there’s much trade between the US and Russia. The fact that China is sending troops to help Russia in Ukraine tells you all you need to know about Putin’s desire for peace. Trump’s promise to end that war quickly is fanciful. Let the oil price tank to squeeze the Kremlin.

I find myself rarely agreeing with Darth (strange times we live in 😂). The tariff issues needed addressing but this was not the way to go about it. A lot of people are going to lose their jobs including in the USA and are having their pension savings/investments trashed. One of my neighbours who is a huge Trump fan and he works in the car industry. He’s worried about losing his job now with these 25% tariffs on cars.

Looks like Loserloo has lost the plot again Ant if that’s what he’s said. The top 10% of taxpayers pay 60% of all income tax receipts. And Labour want to steal from their children’s inheritances. No wonder they’re off. Labours stupid policies will bring in less tax as people leave. I guess the likes of Liarloo aren’t intelligent enough to understand that.

I would contend that Labour’s pernicious tax raids are the reason for an an escalating number of millionaires taking the assets abroad.

Many millionaires have left Britain in anticipation of changes to the tax regime for non-doms – who live in Britain but avoid paying UK tax on money they make overseas – that came into effect in April.

The country as a whole lost 10,800 millionaires to overseas countries in 2024, more than double the number who left in 2023.”
