This is the make or break Year for me regarding Fastjet. Having invested tens of thousands and seeing it almost totally disappear trough the failed implementation of the European LCC model. I now await the results of the re-vamped model. The enthusiast contributions to this site is about the only insight I have and implies there has been considerable flight disruption, bad publicity, and questionable yield on flights that have taken place. The web site style and format is similar to EasyJet and other airlines, but for a fledgling airline it is seriously deficient in promoting Fastjet's business. There is a lack of "hot links", no route maps, and white text on a yellow background is unreadable. It does work as a booking tool but it is dull and uninspiring. As a marketing tool it fails miserably. There also seems to be little promotion of the airline to the trade or general public other than through social media. However, the revised strategy sounded promising and it could be it is still early days and the operation needs fine tuning and bending in. The LCC concept is still sound and will work with the right management and determination to drive it forward. The previous management were too gung-ho and exuberant whereas the current team seen very professional, dull and cautious ( not necessarily a bad thing), but they could do with a touch of Richard Branson type publicity.
Fastjet (FN, Dar-es-Salaam) has formally concluded Airbus operations following the withdrawal from service of its last remaining A319-100, 5H-FJD (msn 2268). Skyliner Aviation reports the twinjet was ferried to Kemble for part-out/scrap on December 8. As it stands, the Tanzanian low-fare airline's fleet consists entirely of Embraer equipment with its new fleet of two EMB-190s. Its Fastjet Zimbabwe (FN, Harare Int'l) affiliate operates one ERJ-145. Both the Zimbabwean unit and Fastjet Mozambique (Maputo) wet-lease one additional ERJ-145 each from partner and equity investor Solenta Aviation (SET, Lanseria). The decision to shift to a smaller fleet is part of a stabilisation plan developed earlier this year in which the carrier's leadership concluded that capacity requirements required an alternative aircraft type, with materially lower operating costs, which would be more appropriate for Fastjet’s markets. As such, Fastjet said in a 2H17 financial filing the use of 50-seater ERJ-145s and 104-seater EMB-190s is expected to yield an approximate 15% cost reduction for fuel, maintenance, handling and navigation charges.
With Mugabe's resignation Zimbabwe will flourish and this can boost travel for business and tourism and Fastjet should be able to capitalise and grow faster than predicted.
Please see below the repli I got from Fastjet to my complaint about the booking screen. My original complaint to them is below their reply. Dear Colin Thank you for your letter. We are in the process of ironing out all glitches; as one would expect a significant system change may have. Thereafter we would be able to load all material prepared. I will gladly keep you updated. Regards, Hein Dear Sir , I have just signed on to fastjet.com and was presented with a simple booking form. So what's wrong with that? Simple is good BUT IT DOES NOTHING TO PUSH THE COMPANY's image or competences. Where is the marketing, the destinations the links to schedules, Pathetic effort. Nico, please review this and take appropriate action. Many thanks in anticipation. You
I have used the email addresses provided by Marksman to make my / our point directly to them asking them to review it and action accordingly. Let's see if they respond.

Why are there no messages since Monday? Very odd!
Thanks Fjetcrazy. Wow! This sounds brilliant. Fifth freedom rights can become a real money maker and I am being to feel very positive about my shares. I now think we will expand sooner than I thought once we complete the reorganisation and get the cost savings coming through.
FJet crazy, thanks for your insights, but I have missed the significance of the trade on hre/Lun Lun/hre. Please enlighten me on this. Also, Solenta have 28% stake. Don't they need a greater holding to meet the SA requirements for FJet to qualify for domestic SA operations in their own name?
Marksman I do remember you and our shared enthusiasm for Fastjet. Like the previous Board I believed Africa and their governments would see Fastjet as a key component in communication and travel, almost as a key infrastructure project, and would assist and support the airline. Alas, that was not to be. So now we are faced with an uphill struggle as the passenger demand is still limited. We desperately need to get a South African stakeholder to get a licence to fly within SA where the domestic market where the demand exists. I recognise this may never happen so until then it is going be a very long time before we can recover some of our investment. Keep hoping for a break through somewhere.
Anybody remember the Stalwarts? I was one and I took a major loss on this airline, but I am still invested and look forward to a slow ateady growth now that the Nico regime is in place. My original belief for a LCC in Africa remains and the opportunity for Fastjet is still there. Let us hope this time the plan is fulfilled.
This share is under valued IMO as business is booming. Forward bookings look on the up so my guess profit takers have sold heavily and will buy back in soon.
