There’s a number of smaller companies developing some novel tech for returning spent car batteries back to half products for re injection. The process is hugely energy intensive though, and as yet has a huge negative yield. But, as electric becomes cheaper and greener over the next decade, this will be a huge industry in the UK

To enable the UK to hit its CCUS targets 100’s of millions needs to be spent upgrading subsea pipelines to take the liquified gases for storage. Based on the deals behind closed doors, the majority of this cost will now be taken up by the oil majors in return for chunks of new licenses in the North Sea. Onshore E&P wouldn’t benefit as onshore CCUS storage is not happening onshore.
