As you say it was 50 years ago and Anglo were a minority shareholder (10%) much less than the majority holder ZCCM (Zam Govt). , mining carries on there to this day and Anglo at " no stage owned or operated the mine".. In typical African style Anglo were just a big fish to throw a claim at. It was never going to succeed, but thank goodness for the people of Zambia that HH seems to have got hold of the sector. The recent fall in the Anglo SP will be more to do with the business reshuffle and the court case may have contributed a bit to the rise but Anglo have refocused on the parts of their business that make a good return and have a strong future, and we will benefit from that new focus.

J99- AAL have form, and my money is and has always been on a large existing partner of theirs i.e. Mitsubishi . AAL do the development, exploration and leg work and M buy in at a premium covering AAL's costs but ensuring huge future revenues for all concerned. It is in the interests of AAL for the ARCM sp to grow significantly pre asset sale. Just my take and could be proved wrong tomorrow :-))

SH I see what you mean, but I wouldn't be at all surprised to see a first refusal option in the contract and having spent so many years (more than most realize) getting to this point-my guess is that our future is already pretty much mapped out !

Ch E may have been chosen first as it has massive potential with an already discovered long and wide strike zone (2kmx-5km from memory) and because as an open pit mine it would produce early cash from the already established surface oxides.

I do not see AAL even thinking about a full sale as they are back in Zam to stay (which is one of the reasons they were so careful and precise on Zam detail before they signed) as some will know I think a JV with another partner to build and develop mine(s) and secure a huge source of cu for many years to come.

Hi Lovely,I know they have used the continuous phrase before dueing presentations but from memory "continuous" was the ultimate level with production ramping up to it ! I'll have to look again !

Is it just the terminology as "continuous" is optimum performance.

Magnum, no-one was shooting the messenger for the article, but the header was a strange conclusion to draw from it .......i.e. "nothing will happen etc." quite the opposite IMO GL with the cash from your sale....!

To say that Anglo didn't know that these cut backs were coming would be either extremely stupid or mind numbingly naïve, so the fact that they carried on and signed the ARCM/AAL $90m JV (at a time when they were making unprecedented cutbacks elsewhere) speaks volumes for their confidence in the licenses, and Zambia, and shows exactly what direction they intend to go. But Hey Ho ! As the old adage says "Never let the truth get in the way of a good story" :-))

There is already a schedule of investment and payment here and nothing apart from AAs withdrawal will affect that. The main problem for AAL is S.A. and Chile and until the governments there changes they will not invest but look for more favourable regions...! I would not be at all surprised to see exploration here accelerated !

The words "Placing" and "Financing" terrify most PI's who are too busy looking for short term small gains rather than long term decent gains .Once the finance package is confirmed (we may well be one of the few to see a rise because of it) some may take a position, others will wait for production. II's (Pro ESG will be very interested)have yet to react but will be similar. With guaranteed customers for REE's and the Gypsum "clean waste" there is a huge upside here, for RBW and the planet
