@Ratboy I think I disagree with you. £62 would be a good price in historical pound notes, ie looking at long term charts, but taking inflation into account it is not that good. If your charts had an option to apply RPI then you may have a different opinion. I don't think Rio is overvalued at all, and it has been rising steadily for a year in recovery, not oscillating as it has before.

You may be "overweight" in Rio (and I do note that is the word you used, and not "overvalued") but that is true only if you have a rigid system of portfolio balance that ignores performance and prospect. I have 25% of my investments in Rio and am happy with that.

Well, it was british a few years ago, and speech habits die hard. Nothing seems to be british any more except a reluctance to earn a living.

Somebody seems to be creating multi-million pounds worth of share certificates and selling them off on a grand scale, £300K at a time, seems like for months now. Probably easier than printing fivers.

Congratulations on being young enough to manage your own retirement planning. When I was working and saving for retirement I had to put money in pension funds that did what they wanted with the money and when they went under returned only a fraction back to me. It wasn't until I retired that SIPPS became easily available, so that was the start of my investing. I am newly in NWG, but HSBA has been one of my best choices.

Good to see that the share price is back to a more normal level that raises expectations for the future. The recent drop enabled Redise to make his buy at 350, but I hope we do not see that again. This is immune from all the current worries of AI and tech overvaluation, in fact it's a brilliant cash generator and value holder.

The bonuses were not performance related, as shown by the directors report in the 2025 annual report :

"During the year ended 30 June 2025 and up to the date of this report, no ordinary shares were issued as

a result of the exercise of unlisted options and no ordinary shares have been issued as a result of the

conversion of performance rights. "

I can't imagine any hurdles are there apart from staying in the job. It is just a way of having "sensible salaries" on show, yet piling additional money to selves as desired and without oversight. Totally shoddy behaviour. A normal and better way is as Serendipity says, an incentive like "double the share price and we will give you X new shares".

I have only 8 now, as I have given up on others (disasters or just not growing as hoped) but my top 2 are in common with yours, HSBA and RIO. Congratulations on your success and diversity.

I have been through this before with "sunday roast" etc, invested heavily in a good prospect and lost a lot of money when the directors lined their own pockets and arranged a debtor to hand the company over to, before the share was withdrawn from the AIM market. I am not saying SVML is in that category, but that is the risk private investors have to weigh.

The price goes down in low-volume shares because the market makers have to provide a market, so must offer to buy or sell at different prices, create turnover, and hope to make a profit on each, but this entails holding stock. If they bought too much in the froth of excitement they need to offload some when the company prospects are dimmed, as now.

Price will rise if people keep buying.

A paltry dividend means the share will be more volatile as we are relying purely on share price gains. At the first significant tremble I will be inclined to ditch BARC and if others are like me the share price will yoyo. A share with a sensible dividend is a long term hold. A pity, because I am a holder, not a trader,

OR - I am sorry to hear of your stomach problems but as another old timer I take the view that everyone has to die of something. But I won't die from impatience on this. I think it is a great long term asset but its time to flower is not yet - I am happy to see it mothballed. At some stage we will actually be short of food and pay farmers to grow crops rather than pay them to grow wild flowers, trees, birds, and anything but food. When that happens, AAL will turn on the taps and take the benefits.

Rookie, one thing you perhaps are overlooking is that with all the money creation that has been and still is going on, the actual value of money is correspondingly falling. Therefore you would expect any sound business to have increasing share prices because if its value is static then is is always becoming worth more in currency terms.

I am in Barclays in a small way, not because I think it is "going places" but because I reckon it has the ability to make profits in such circumstances and is likely to at least be a safer repository of my savings than many others.

I had significantly reduced my holding, but I see the shares are still artificially being held at this level. As soon as it rises, large sales are fed in to bring the price back. This is a good company with a promising future and I will keep watching, but for now I am completely out.
