Roundtable Discussion; The Future of Mineral Sands. Watch the video here.
My guess is that Glenda was anticipating a rejection by the board, and now we await round 2 of their tactical approach. It is interesting to note that this approach is very much in line with what various commentators have been suggesting Glenda might do. I anticipate an increased offer and some high level corporate finance tactics to follow
It says that the company has strong grounds to assert its contractual rights.
This is pretty meaningless- unless a contract is void everyone has strong grounds to assert their contractual rights. It says nothing about what those rights are, the implications and likely outcome.
It is legal waffle and pretty hopeless legal waffle at that. I would take no comfort from that whatsoever- and I was a corporate lawyer for 25 years...
It’s easy to give the benefit of the doubt to the ‘steady as she goes’ silent BODs and CEOs etc on AIM when there is a lot of positive sentiment on these boards, and attribute confidence and professionalism to the CEO when no concrete information is forthcoming. I have done it.
However there comes a point when even the most enthusiastic cheerleader needs to take stock. This company is run by amateurs, bit like the government I guess.
It strikes me that this is very much a gamblers stock now. The commercial uncertainties and risks for the company - which us LTHs are aware of and have based investment decisions on - create an opportunity for gambling for those people who like that sort of thing. The net effect is that the commercial worth of the company is really quite divorced from the share price, and the normal rules that apply to investments have gone out the window. I suspect that to some extent this is true for a lot of AIM stocks.
Anyway I’m not sure what GM etc can do about it apart from concentrating on the business and ignoring the share price - other than to play things with a straight bat when there is some certainty that can be reported. It is probably why lots of information was lumped into the last RNS.
So, it strikes me that LTHs just have to accept that this is a gamblers heaven stock until such time as the business uncertainties are less and the gamblers lose interest, as the share price starts to have some sort of correlation to the business.
Although this is very unwelcome news I think the way the board have dealt with it is professional and gives me confidence.
There will always be those on chat boards like this that criticise the company for not saying things they want to hear - eg for not giving forward statements when clearly it was totally right that the company didn’t -but generally I t seems to me that this has been played with a straight bat.
It does rather underline that the only people who know what is happening are the board and not all the armchair speculators.
It is distressing to see the nasty people coming out of the woodwork to gloat on other people’s misfortune and imply how clever they are. I guess there will always be people like that.
I’m hopeful that once the dust settles things will progress positively for the company and the share price will recover.
It would be nice if the keyboard warriors, and the ‘heroes of the bottle’ would do one, but perhaps that is too much to ask.
I have just reread the RNS. In my view it is an honest and positive set of statements that are not ‘spun’ like so many AIM statements. The share price fell for many reasons as posters on this BB have stated.
The real point is that the board are focussed on the business of the company, as they should be, not on assisting day traders to make a profit. To a significant extent it is the rampers here who are responsible for the volatility in the share price. I imagine the board are not too bothered, and I would commend them for their professionalism and focussing, quite rightly, on the business of the company and not individual shareholders needs however vocally expressed.
I am, incidentally, a long term holder and have added as a result of the actual content of the RNS. Always a risk with shares but in my view this is a company that is consolidating its good fortune and moving to the next level.
Having been shafted by JZ on MRS I thought I’d see what was going on at URU.
Couldn’t make it up.....
I guess what is pretty clear and what we can agree upon is that what are recorded as buys and sells on the basic LSE site, not L2, can not in reality be regarded as buys or sells, and to the extent that people on the BBs go on about them and speculate ad naseum about them as such, it is wasted energy
My understanding on AIM is that shares are recorded as buys if the transaction price is nearer the quoted ask price and as sells if the transaction price is nearer the quoted bid price at the time the transaction is struck. It has absolutely nothing to do with whether the shares are bought or sold. In fact they are both bought and sold but recorded as buys or sells just for convenience.
I think this causes a lot of misunderstanding on AIM and inaccurate speculation.
I guess the two things that the investors in this company did not anticipate was fraud and the complete failure of regulation.
It is a hard lesson and the main takeaway is to steer clear of those wrongdoers who were in control and who destroyed a fundamentally decent company and the lives and careers of a number of people, as well as defrauding the shareholders.
Perhaps a special place in hell is reserved for them also
Can’t even spell principal right
What a shower
It becomes apparent why Hackett whizzed off when he found out what was afoot.
It is my hope that somehow JZ LH PB and TJ get their comeuppance for their greed dishonesty and incompetence in this fiasco.
Hopefully the employees will be ok
What could have been a positive thing - JZ’s resignation - is tainted with suspicion as Hackett presumably didn’t like the smell. Good for him, bad for us.
Now we are left with the doubtful duo - doesn’t fill me with confidence. LH and JZ’s sticky little fingers are no doubt not far away.
I have today voted in favour of the 6 resolutions.
To be honest I don’t see how PB can be seen as not having colluded with the dishonest dealings which are clearly apparent here, but perhaps he needs to stay for now for continuity.
I very much hope we can see the back of those who have done their cynical best to destroy shareholder value for their own ends.
I have given instructions to HL to vote in favour of all 6 resolutions in respect of my 392209 shares.
It is critical that everyone gives instructions to their nominees it fills in proxies in good time to enable the company to move forward
Many thanks SR
Does anyone know where the full notice of EGM can be found on the Company’s website, as stated in the rns. I am having difficulty locating it.
There is reference in the RNS to an EGM maybe on the 22 May. As far as I know the notice of EGM to change the board hasn’t been sent out yet. Is that correct?
