To try to keep afloat as long as possible, PVCS has no other choice to cut production drastically. Hence, redundancies. In current market conditions, idle factories are worth nothing hence impairment costs. As you, I hope polysilicon and wafer prices will rise quickly ... knowing that chinese producers still have a substancial advantage in terms of production costs ! Wait and see. As for me, I expect heavy losses in 2011 and beginning 2012 ! Since PVCS interim statement in October, wafer prices are down 25 % and polysilicon down 15 %.
