There never is.

You can see MMs quotes but orders on the book are anonymous.
Also you can't see stops on SETS

It’s surely inconceivable that she and her husband were unaware of UK insider trading law? But at the same time I can’t imagine that she wouldn’t see how bad this looks. She is a PR expert, after all.
Who knows what happened. Mr Clarke’s purchase is not doing terribly well in the sniff test either way.

It just seems unlikely to me that he would ask Brooke if she thought it would be OK to have a modest punt in SNG, and that she said yeah fine, fill your boots, but we’re expecting the biggest announcement in our history shortly

The timing of any results announcement would not be affected by the trade, kosher or not.

Absolutely. I think they would still (maybe have to?) go through the mkt

So Polar’s holding now sub 5% and therefore in public hands

Of course market making firms do that. Until recently that was a major pillar of how they made a living.
But that’s not Polar and Polygon colluding. It works something like this, I think…

Dealer at Polar sends an instant Bloomberg (IB) to a sales trader at XYZ broker asking for a bid for, say, 100k SNG.
Sales trader IBs his mkt maker in SNG asking the same question, and, if XYZ broker also has a relationship with Polygon, contacts Polygon to see what their current appetite is. Assuming the mkt maker doesn’t have a better buyer, the sales trader will put buyer and seller together.
If XYZ don’t have a relationship with Polygon, their mkt maker will contact the broker who he has seen as a regular buyer, presumably acting for Polygon, to have same conversation.
But there’s no contact or collusion between Polar and Polygon. Nor does there need to be. It’s just a market doing what it’s supposed to, matching buyers and sellers
