I can’t really be bothered but ill tell you. It’s nothing to do with gas. It’s positions being sold
down and rebought, via hedges under the threshold US ones or existing holders turning shares
looking for liquidity. Honestly, do some research, it’s the same curve as the house builders, it’s year end and traditionally poor, add a bit of uncertainty going forward and it gets put down. I supply housebuilders we are flat out. So either buy some more or sell and put your money in the bank. Shares are not for everyone
It’s none of the below. It’s because of the end of Furlough and the city forward thinking that we are entering into a recession. therefore, the algos are marking the share down. Next year will be
interesting. !
I think the share is being rotated out of after the divi hats all. The fda are not going to ban our products, they are only interested in the unregulated products from the small players. Why bother holding it now, it makes no sense. Move on to other divi shares if that’s your game and revisit here in 6 weeks for the game to start again.
It all seems so obvious
I often watch CNBC the halftime report to get a heads up from the experienced panel who have
been in the market for years. Anyhow, today they had an experienced trader FISH is his nickname.
Well when this guy talks you listen. His view this disruption to the gas and oil price is just the tip
of the iceberg. It’s only going to get worse and that will be unfortunate for customers via
higher energy prices but good for the energy companies. Energy costs in Asia he quoted as 4 times what the yanks pay. It’s going to get really messy because the transition hasn’t been thought though and energy companies are on a one way drive upwards.
The market will have to accept that and you could experience major upswings in the share price
I don’t know why posters bother wasting breath on the BBC . Anyone who is street wise and possesses an ounce of common sense on how the world works, knows that Africa is a basket case
full of corruption , always has been always will be. The Chinese will no doubt be involved with
numerous backhanders here and there it’s the way the game works.
These people making these programmes are supposed to be smart . Defund the BBC it’s long overdue !
My opinion the fda review as mentioned stated last 2 yrr.kids in the US were being admitted to hospital with lung problems due to cheap vaping products.
The share price tanked at the time with news of a review, then recovered when it was established it would not effect the big players ie us. As far as I see nothing has changed the big boys will control the action and so it’s all short term headwinds again.
The small players will get wiped out and all their unregulated products leaving a clear path for us to have a decent market share in the action.
My opinion bats is now a trading share . It has been for a while. It’s in a range and the best strategy is to buy between £24/26 and sell out before the divi date. Summer months with no volume will provide an opportunity to buy on weakness. Cigs are like oil unloved and no matter how good growth is from future products, it’s going to be unloved and kicked at an opportunity. So I just invest for a 3 month cycle tops.
Yellen talking about interest rate rises has caused an already frothy market to re-evaluate . So
the algos just switch to sell in this Global market ! Unfortunate that it is that’s the reason for the sell off in my opinion.
As I mentioned last week the jury is out on Looney , they don’t like buybacks as it’s not confident
enough . He needs to deliver on the plan and regardless of the free cash flow from the oil price
will there be a future . So that’s not known until you see some quarterly earnings reports and the
big boys have not bought into the plan , so expect volatility. It seems obvious to me !
Having been invested for a number of years and knowing the game inside out, this is a PUNT.
BP were sold down because the facts and figures at the presentations were not there, it was all
Jam tomorrow with no numbers.
So, I state again until looneys strategy can be quantified it’s all nonsense. Granted you might
get some upside in the share price due to the oil price, but this is a depreciating business.
People need to realise there is no cost basis for these projects it’s all talk and years away.
So beware all the hype because the market clearly doesn’t believe Looney, otherwise the price
would of recovered like the other majors you keep banging on about !
A lot of the institutions bailed on looneys initial presentation stating that it was “lots of charts”
with no cost structure ! So until he gets some quarterly results under his belt which show
how “the plan” makes money, it’s a punt !
Lots of nonsense posted here so don’t get sucked into the hype.
I’m in agreement with the yanks buying. But the good old fste clearly has an issue with BP
on the ESG side and that’s not changing until Looney can deliver returns from the green agenda.
This reminds me of Vodafone and 5 G a few years ago. No one wants to pay for the Hugh infrastructure costs as they can’t see a return
I’m not expecting too much from Q1 . Large hit to the balance sheet what with the redundancies. The guidance going forward is the key. Also my view is the Saudis and the Russians have realised
that pointless all rushing to the front door to pump as much as possible. Play the long game and
get a better price. It’s still a BUY providing Looney strategy starts to get support.
I’m long BP. Surely this talk of previous highs for BP being achieved is unfounded because dear
old Looney has sold off assets and reduced production targets.
So obviously the past is the past and I’ve not seen any future share price targets from established
sources ? For the new business
Having read most of the comments on here, I can only add that once Covid is on the decline and
the economy opens up fully, good old Unilever will test new highs. The us 10 year has been creeping up which has had a short term effect , but longterm inflation will be controlled by
the fed, so it’s a BUY.
Having been a shareholder in Laird when it was taken over, I have recently decided to take a
position here. Possibility of a take over, maybe slim, also with all this printing of money, this
could be a good recovery defensive play.
