I've read that salt is a good containment for natural storage while researching about Kansas as its known to have lots of salt formations, so I searched to see about salt in Hamilton Kansas and what do you know... Could be the Stratograpic block that's needed! "The principal salt recorded in the logs of the well in Hamilton County and in the well at Eads, Colo., about 30 miles west of the southwest corner of Greeley County, appears to represent more nearly the stratigraphic horizon of this upper salt, although it is probably not continuous throughout the region between Hamilton and Clark counties." http://www.kgs.ku.edu/Publications/Bulletins/11/05_salt.html

Would have thought not long, plugs being drilled out then the well cleaned up and perforated then flow tested!

Hi Sub, I noticed the surface casing of Barret goes down too 1400ft and the test zone is 2087-2187 so the shallow test of the Carlile would'nt have been aimed for in the Barret and overlooked, wonder what the newly drilled well Charlie 1 will find, would have thought that there would only be 1 formation with Nitrogen, could be 2 but I think why would there be the same constitution in 2 different formations so makes me think what else do we have?

What would be the next step in Kansas say for instance a good flow rate good nitrogen purity, would have thought there would be only 1 formation with nitrogen as tested in the 2087-2187 region in the Cedar Hills Formation in a known well and perforating but the test is for 2 formations with a second shallow drill to 800ft so would be good to find out the constituents of that also!

Well over 20 years old and the plugging company marked down as Nitrogen but then crossed out and put in gas well, without the gas test being analysed so the plugging company wouldn't mark it down as such but knew it was Nitrogen! http://www.kgs.ku.edu/PRS/Documents2/2010_10_01_KCC/C0033005.pdf

As I say in the last post it dos'nt take long to re-complete a well, work over rig and perforate crew, dont think it mentions stimulation and has a history of high pressure nitrogen so the gas will come out naturally!

So Monday was the start of the re-completion on the existing well in Hamilton recommended to use by the Kansas oil and gas commission with equipment capable of controlling high pressures, it's going to be perforated in the Cedar Hills formation at a depth of 2,150 feet with flow rate and gas composition tests, so would only think a couple of days for this!

We have a high pressure nitrogen reservoir in Hamilton Kansas next to the 25.2 TCF Hugoton gas field with a well that's been drilled and shut in due to high pressure 20 years ago and marked down as Nitrogen on the sheet also! Nitrogen prices are between $5-8 MCF twice to three times the price of Natural Gas!

Good of Highlands to give a stepped process of operations! Summary of Operations Plan 1. Highlands will operate on a previously plugged wellbore, Barret 1-14, which is expected to be more time and cost efficient, given the high flow pressures experienced in the area. 2. Highlands will re-enter, wash down and re-complete this well with equipment capable of controlling high pressures. 3. The re-completed well will perforate the Cedar Hills formation at a depth of 2,150 feet. 4. Highlands will conduct flow rate and gas composition tests on the perforated formation. 5. After completing the first well, the rig will move 150 feet to a second drilling location, and drill a new well, named Charlie-1, to a depth of 800 feet to test the Carlile shale for reservoir characterization.
