Encouraging to see such a big order this early in the year, last year saw numerous big orders so no doubt there will be more to be announced. When London decides to renew their metro line, this will be the place they turn.
The electric metro city designed for London will be were the cash is at IMO along with Stagecoaches and FirtGroup
I wouldn't worry about the price today or tomorrow, the mcap is a measly 5m and this company is ranked in the top5 bus manufacturers in the world, with orders from the biggest companies and government councils.
'Optare has received an order for a total of 13 Versa hybrid buses and 3 Versa electric buses at a total value of £3.5 million from Transport for Greater Manchester. The order was partially funded by round 4 of the Government's Green Bus fund.' UK GOVERNEMT WEBSITE: 'The Green Bus Fund supports bus companies and local authorities in England to help them buy new low carbon buses. Its main purpose is to support and speed up the introduction of HUNDREDS of low carbon buses across England. This bidding guidance and documents are intended for bus operators and local authorities who want to submit bids for grant under the 4th round of the government’s Green Bus Fund. The bidding guidance explains the eligibility terms, the bidding process and how bids should be submitted.'
Optare is part of the Hinduja Group 'Their parent, Ashok Leyland, part of the Hinduja Group, is ranked within the top five global bus manufacturers.' Orders seem to be coming in with potential orders of 15 in discussion. Defiantly a buy and hold, seems very undervalued at this time.
Hi mate, have you got a link?
Very impressive and forward thinking business, fully electric buses is a seriously good idea, eco-friendly and cost efficient I can see why the biggest coach companies in the UK are buying these vehicles. http://www.optare.com/metrocity
So true, I've always found that also.
what coach company wouldn't want to save on fuel with electric vehicles? promising future ahead!
Optare also announces that it is in continuing discussion with FirstGroup regarding an order for a further 15 buses although there can be no guarantee that these discussions will result in a purchase order. :O

LONDON (Alliance News) - Optare PLC saw its shares hit an 11-month high early Tuesday as it got a GBP7.3 million order for its Solo single-decker buses from Stagecoach Group PLC in the UK. In a statement, the bus maker said it expects to deliver the Solos with Euro 6 emissions standards by the end of this year, although it didn't say how many. It said the order is in addition to five fully electric vehicles that it will deliver this month. "We are delighted to be supplying more Optare vehicles to Stagecoach. In line with the Stagecoach greener, smarter, travel strategy these Solos will be the first Euro 6 vehicles Optare have supplied to Stagecoach," Optare Chief Executive Enrico Vassallo said in a statement. Optare shares were up 87.6% at 0.310 pence early Tuesday, making it the best-performing stock on the AIM All-Share index on the day.
