Any Views on the August General Meeting and changes to exec compensation that only apply if share price doubles?

Down almost 4 % then closing up .

FTSE 100 share on no new news.

Probably algorithms that see negative revenue in RNS and sell then actual people look at what’s happening and over rule the algorithms .

Often wonder if anyone anywhere takes a close look at how the market really works but it doesn’t behave rationally that’s for sure.

Savage, understand the point but businesses use the system to tax dodge as you call it. It,’s legal and no more u nreasonable than you avoiding taxation by buying an ISA. What’s needed I think is a radical rethink of the tax Code in the country not a war based on how awful big companies and wealthy people are. they keep the country earning wealth and keep kicking them rather than working with them and the country will be worse off.

LeeRex, Whilst I largely agree I would Say that to truly improve the board you also need to include PhatKatzout in your criticism.

They are obsessed with each other and it's long past the time when it was mildly entertaining.

However the security arguments only apply for foreign ownership.

Do you believe that a UK owned private equity bid could be blocked ?

On what grounds?

Notakin, If a few billion are on offer network assets can be re allocated to different areas of the business and sold unless asset transfer is specifically forbidden by an existing law theres no such word as can't

What do you think will cause that? The CAT result is the only thing that comes to my mind but you seem to think that other factors will cause a drop

Thanks for posting, Interesting indeed, as national security would be the only reason the government could block a bid I assume that UK based Private Equity houses leading a bid and retaining a majority stake couldn't be blocked.

This article in the FT also uses 15.9% as the BT short.

It assumes that all shares on loan are loaned for shorting purposes so assume those on the voting rights RNS owned by Morgan Stanley (9% plus) are included in the 15.9%.

I'd assumed from recent posts on here that there were multiple reasons for using options like this but the FT article suggests other wise.

I know that hedge funds have deep pockets but 15.9% of BT is a £2 billion bet against BT , is that really likely?

If it is then it must be based on betting on a huge CAT award which most commentators suggest is unlikely.

Any experts out there got an idea what may be happening? if its really this or something else?

The short tracker website doesn’t show shorts at that level.

Thanks Casapinos,I’ve read the same on an investment web site, in fact they called it “quiet ownership “.

Hope that’s the reason behind it rather than MS just supporting the shorts and playing their own gambling games.

Can anyone explain what could be behind the Morgan Stanley move outlined in this morning’s RNS? I can’t fathom the point of it but guess I’m missing something obvious.

Hope you’re right. Just watched the AK results presentation,she’s a good confident talker for sure and the analyst community gave her no tough questions. Polo Tang didn’t push his negative agenda in the Q and A at all which was interesting.

Hope she delivers as well as she talks but I thought her and the FD did a good job at laying out how so much improvement in coming years is pretty much baked in.

Pleased to hear we’re on the same side…….don’t worry the shorters and their mates in the media will make it very clear how awful what ever is the result and that BT is mortally damaged by it.

This is the guy who did the doom laden video that was passed around last week.

Seems to have changed his views a little.
