So offer values Linden Homes at £1.075bn or 968p per share, compared to Galliford’s 615p closing price, with Bovis shares closing overnight at 1,059p.
Whatever Galliford is worth, £3 minimum.
Plus hopefully, Aberdeen reimbursement.
Hopefully 40 pence dividend.
What's that, £13.08 without Aberdeen, at previous closing prices.
That would do me.
what I can not understand, is this is a better offer, yet the price now is not reflecting that.
yes we will.
great news
My vouchers have just arrived via ii.co.uk.
50% off hotel breaks too, as we did last year.
my guess, any one else?

Just wished we had a UK White Night to save us from the Americans at the last minute. (the exchange rate is making life easy for them to pick up UK assets at the moment)
AJ Bell Youinvest wont send the vouchers and now you can not contact Greene King to bypass them.
Unlike Marston's (a smaller company) they don't have anyone up for the task, and I suppose the Company Secretary was getting fed up of making exceptions in previous years.
Interactive Investor are more accommodating, but you do need to ask for them. the secure mail link works for this action.
For those wondering if some of the current price includes a dividend payment.
HL report that both the Comcast offer and increased 21st Century Fox offer include an amount in lieu of a final dividend, so Sky's management haven't declared a payment.
Possibly Morgan Stanley on the 16th, upgrading to overweight and from 610 to 640 target price. Breaking some the broker negativity. Hoping to move forward to 600 over the summer, and really hoping they take Marston's with them.
Liberum Capital, 15 January, Buy at 10.60.. Liberum Capital, downgrades 23 January to hold at 9:30... Liberum Capital, 25 January remains hold but at 9:35!! Wait for It! Liberum Capital Upgrades today to buy,12:50!!.. what a Team.... Well done to Societe Generale 130:20 on 26 January, not there yet, but did stick out above the rest.
Surely this RNS means that the contract has to be completed by the 2 remaining firms. Fair enough. Surely Carillion have not been paid for completion in advance. If so we need a new Govt. To me, meaning that remaining part of the contract profit or loss is down to those 2 contractors. Fair enough, just a bigger job and possible reward?? with a possible, but unlikely loss of amount stated. No experience on these matters at all, but involved shareholder.
Quite a depressing initial fall this morning, goes well with the weather today and over the summer I suppose, which has not helped. Could do with more encouragement from the boss, reports do always seem to be dour, sell yourself and the company and product please. Do you ever see any advertising local or national? Remind people that they can enjoy themselves! A build up of shorts to about 4.4% has taken its toll, but if I remember, 10 - 12% a couple of years ago. I think fallingknife is right 600 is a fair start to rebuild today, HSBC have 595 as there target a few days ago!! Today Shore, Liberum and Peel Hunt today retain or reiterate add/buy at far better value. Even Investec who reduced from buy to hold have a target of 667. Total over-reaction on Marstons too, with far fewer shorts in place.
HI Fallingknife Yes, the supporting evidence kills that one, thanks for that clarification. Must have been a typo from the originator, those with the benefit of the brokers note or those without a feeling that this share is manipulated on a regular basis could see through . I suppose with the manipulation up yesterday :-) !!! not too bad in the end Glad they left Marstons as a hold, that might have done some damage. And, GKN not in the least bothered about the Typo/downgrade.
Hi Bungle99 Depends who your broker is! Interactive Investor didn't send mine until 19 September last year, the same day that I reminded them! AJ Bell YouInvest don't issue the vouchers, but they will email Greene King to mention your holding, if you ask them to and for the purpose of obtaining the vouchers directly. Regards.
HI Fallingknife Thanks for that input, I notice that the reference quoted appears to have come from Proactive Investor published at 10:50. I checked this before I published my thoughts below.at 10:12. Appears genuine but bad research. click on the links they are old material, and about the last time a certain company (not HSBC, manipulated the price down by about 5% early doors) Would need to see HSBC note, anyone? Yes it is clear that HSBC has downgraded parts of the pub sector, but I am still not clear on the GNK (pub) downgrade the report mentions Greene King, but not Marstons, which was mentioned by HSBC, along with Wetherspoons. stockwire this morning " HSBC today downgrades its investment rating on GKN PLC (LON:GKN) to reduce (from hold) and cut its price target to 595p (from 680p)." if you check GKN engineering on Hargreaves Lansdown, new HSBC target 595. No mention of downgrade for GNK ( the pub ) Amazing what press reports can achieve.
"Greene King was hit by a downgrade to 'reduce' at HSBC, while JD Wetherspoon fell after a downgrade to 'hold' by the same outfit" Has someone got this wrong, from what I can find HSBC downgrades Wetherspoon's and put a hold on Marstons and Mitchell Butler. They also downgrade GKN, for me this is an engineering firm. confirmed by Daily Mail and Hargreaves. Has anyone seen the GNK downgrade?
Did we hit the bottom this morning 113.8, we will see. Shorts were 1.28% on the 8th and has been falling since 5.13% in February. My opinion is that Blackrock and Old Mutual have manipulated the price down to lock in long term 6%+ yield, which is covered nearly twice. Rock solid company, after all, the recent acquisitions have been supported by outside lenders, who obviously don't see bankruptcy on the horizon. 5 year low, rubbish, this is not Carillion it has assets, diverse product and run by competent management with ambition and foresight. My second biggest holding 10%, GFRD the largest. Down at the moment, but happy to keep buying, good part of my pension input. Live in Lancashire so the discount card is used on a very regular basis, when that disappears I will start to worry.
