Helium-3 is a rare, non-radioactive isotope of helium with two protons and one neutron, valuable as a fuel for cleaner nuclear fusion power. It is extremely scarce on Earth but abundant in the lunar regolith from solar wind bombardment, making lunar mining a potential strategy for future energy needs. Beyond fusion, Helium-3 is used in cryogenics, quantum computers, and experimental medical lung imaging.
