US natural gas futures jumped 9% to above $3.27/MMBtu, snapping a two-week losing streak as colder weather forecasts and strong LNG demand boosted prices. Meteorologists revised their two-week outlook to near-normal temperatures through early November, a shift from earlier warmer projections, raising expectations for higher heating demand. Meanwhile, LSEG data showed gas production in the Lower 48 states averaged 106.6 bcfd so far in October, down from 107.4 bcfd in September and a record 108 bcfd in August, signaling tighter supply. At the same time, LNG exports hit 16.4 bcfd, up from 15.7 bcfd last month and near record highs, reflecting robust overseas demand. Still, high storage levels, about 4% above the five-year average, continue to cushion the market from supply disruptions.
