Absolutely right, there is a place for both tests but the antibody test cannot and will not be a precursor for the eventual vaccine.
Currently, we believe the virus has the ability to mutate so a fixed antibody test would not be relevant.
Current understanding is that if that if you test positive as having had it today, it does not mean you won’t get it again tomorrow.., next week, next month, we don’t know.
Annually in excess of 20million Flu vaccines are administered in this country at a cost of £9 per vaccine . Why don’t we conduct flu antibody tests prior to vaccination, ? because it’s a virus and
it mutates constantly. Again, this is the current belief with C19.
Each year the flu vaccine differs, hence the reason we need inoculation annually and don’t test.
