I may be wrong, but I’m quite sure in Germany their equivalent of Ofcom covers every utility not just telecom and as such doesn’t regulate the market in the same way ours does with an iron fist when it comes to the incumbent ex monopoly.

Connexion.. lots of new builds have certain conditions. I think Persimmon was one builder with their own broadband provider etc but guaranteed they’ll go bust. They don’t use Virgin or BT it’s usually some small provider and the home owners actually end up using EE4/5G or Starlink etc and other similar services.

Milton Keynes had a similar issue when it was being developed. Sky dishes weren’t allowed on homes. Everything house had to be cable TV only… last time I was in MK there was plenty of Sky dishes on new builds.

BT have always tried to bring new things to market and pull out too early… anyone remember the video phone in the early 90’s? Imagine had they carried on developing it.. or the old BT hub2 that came with a VOIP phone in the early noughties? Then they developed a mobile phone that converted to a house phone when you got home.. I think it was a blueberry iirc.. it’s a pity they didn’t develop streaming services as we’d all be millionaires lol well a lot of us… then imagine they’d won their court case where BT wanted royalties for every hyperlink created and used as they maintained that they were the first to develop and use the technology.

The biggest issue currently with Plusnet, is that the routers they send out are not pre programmed with the username and password and this leads to customers having to try and put it in themselves via contacting the helpline. It’s not an Openreach issue at all.

I meant in the comparison that they used all their own external infrastructure even if the equipment was based in BT exchanges… you can still see floor boxes badged to mercury, the same with Nynex and other cable suppliers even rediffusion now that’s the original cable company.

If you asked 50 people who are CF probably one or 2 could tell you. That’s the reality. More debt in a sector as competitive as telecommunications is not a good recipe for a company that has about a 15% conversion rate with huge turnover of customers. They’ll be eaten up eventually. BT and VM are the great whites licking their lips and biding their time.
