The issue is that talk re the development of Inlandsbanan has gone quiet so Ulla is requesting a consultation to find out why that is. She’s being very sensible, in my view, by publicly stating the current situation, as it is also drawing attention to those who should still be speaking up about the development of the railway and aren’t. Putting the spotlight on them, equally if not more so than on BEM. Quite the opposite of being careless and casual. It’s also commendable that she’s not prepared to simply sit and wait for more months of potential silence to only then take action. She wants those answers now, to keep any delay with our environmental application to an absolute minimum. Good.

Pocko, if you mean Ulla, I’d rather know of a possible delay now than in Q4. She’s being responsible, in my opinion.

Yes, I feel we’ve only ever been extremely accommodating and inclusive. We shall hopefully know more from Ulla before long re the railway silence, if not from Kurt. You mentioned this, but there are alternative transport solutions.

The main thing is to not be totally disheartened from something mentioned on the Jokkmokk Iron website, because Ulla herself doesn’t know what’s occurring yet. If anything has changed etc.

Well Ulla is rightly trying to get to the bottom of it for us, right now. She isn’t leaving it say, until Q3. Good. Not much more BEM can do if she’s already doing it.

Yes Pocko, but we were also lied to by a Government Minister, uncovered when the KU report revealed, contrary to what we were told by the Minister, there were actually no measures in place whatsoever, for over three years, to move our concession application along. That isn’t passive is it? So I doubt BEM will stand for any more delays, without the proof of delay, and hence why Ulla is pressing for the answers re this latest situation. Surely we must be pleased about that.

I’m pleased that Ulla has updated the website with the info re the potential railway problem. It also serves to show that she’s actively trying to push for answers early on.

Pocko, I’m sure we won’t be a passive passenger if it can be deemed that further obstruction to our business progress is purposely undertaken by the authorities. That said, the Inlandsbanen isn’t a simple issue, because it also involves 19 municipalities who each own part of it. I think this article may be of interest:

Any delay will depend upon receiving the answers within a certain timeframe. It doesn’t mean there will be a delay, but she’s saying that if the answers aren’t forthcoming then the delay will be out of her hands. That’s why she’s pressing for the straight answers now. What she hasn’t said is when the answers will need to be in by so as to not cause a delay to our application submission at all.

She is, however, trying her best early on to resolve the issue so that our application submission is not hindered. I’m happy with that. It’s no fault of BEM that talk of the railway improvements by the Government etc has gone quiet.

She’ll also be looking more now at the alternatives re different transport channels to include in our application.
