Short description:
The subject of this award procedure is the conclusion of a framework agreement on the delivery of an as yet unspecified number of antigen tests for self-use by laypeople to prove the presence of an infection with SARS-CoV-2 (hereinafter referred to as "self-tests") in accordance with the description of services for the interior department of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia.
The framework agreement is intended to cover the need for self-tests for the next 1 to 2.5 years. The dynamic and unpredictable development of the pandemic makes reliable calculations difficult. The current requirement of 3G at the workplace could also be extended to 3G + in the future. The experience of the last few months shows that adjustments to the legal requirements can be made within a very short period of time. In order to have the greatest possible security with regard to the availability of self-tests at this point and to allow for changes in the test strategy, a maximum weekly acceptance of self-tests of 500,000 is planned. There is no minimum purchase quantity. According to current planning, the regular weekly purchase amount is 149,500 self-tests, but depending on the development of the pandemic situation, it can be increased to a regular weekly purchase amount of 373,750 self-tests. These are the currently estimated quantities. Due to the dynamic and unpredictable development of the pandemic, the actual quantities required may differ.
In accordance with the contract, only those tests are to be delivered which at the time of commissioning and delivery have a special approval in accordance with Section 11, Paragraph 1 of the Medical Devices Act (MPG) by the Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices (BfArM) and are listed under a corresponding BfArM AT number or have undergone a conformity assessment procedure in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2017/745 on medical devices or Regulation (EU) 2017/746 on in-vitro diagnostics and can prove this by means of a CE declaration of performance.

Notified bodies are in most cases private for-profit entities. Their establishment is therefore market-driven. Under the current Directive 98/79/EC on in vitro diagnostic medical devices, 18 notified bodies are designated (22 before the UK's withdrawal from the EU). So far, only 6 notified bodies have been designated under the IVD Regulation. 11 applications for designation are pending (October 2021).

The news from the FDA to start trials in USA is a tremendous step for Avacta.
The market has still not realised the enormous potential pre/Cision has to generate multi drug revenue streams.
Pre/Cision was invented in the USA at Tufts University and also has another American company Point Pharma is using the technology with Avacta so the FDA will be aware of pre/Cision.

A lot of negativity on here and twitter from trolls focusing on Avacta cash burn in completing the trials, but they are fully funded for AVA6000 and should be able to see it through until a large Pharma buys a licence.

One thing the market is not waking up to, Point Bio are funding their trial themselves so no cash burn for Avacta.

The Biggest announcement this year was LG Chem pre-clinical development milestone being achieved.

LG Chem has successfully completed certain pre-clinical in-vivo models in the PD-L1/XT programme leading to the selection of a pre-clinical candidate for further development towards the clinic and triggering an undisclosed milestone payment.

Now once these start clinical trials this will accelerate, Sough Korea are the fastest country in the world moving drugs through trials and Avacta could hit substantial royalties faster than AVA6000.
