Let's face it. If the market believes inflation wil be so bad that no-one is going to spend any money then the consumption of oil will cease completely! LOL! What a firking joke the stock market really is! Pathetic! Now the market will be going - oh so now the price of aviation fuel is going to go right down and if we think about it IAG is still short staffed............... so they won't be hiring too many people anyway. Indeed maybe the lack of passengers will mean that soon that have enough staff and are not short staffed any more!!!!!! LOL!!!

Seems to me the sell off is overdone and now the cost of the fuel has come down loads too.

the airline shares were ALREADY extremely low?
People are still going on holiday, planes are still flying, and air freight is still being flown.
I already have some @ £1.07 so may pick up some more.

We simply need to be self sufficient with energy and then some (so we can export) however we get it done in the short term. I'd speak to the CEO's of all the energy Companies and ask what is the quickest way to achieve this. We are talking years here, but the Russian issue is going to go on and on while Putin is in charge. It could be more than 10 years before he goes. We have to think long term.
To start with I suspect to get the results we need we will be looking at gas, oil and possibly even coal, along with the greener options. Also the modular nuclear plants Rolls Royce have helped develop.
This is simply slowing down the switch to greener energy (which I am in favour of).
At the end of the day if we have to even use more coal for a few years it's better than Russia being able to turn the lights off in Germany, Italy etc......... This would be terrible for the EU economy and cause massive world wide economic problems. At minimum any mothballed coal, oil and gas power stations should be made ready in case they are needed. Made ready NOW.

Hi. I was hoping the airlines were going to do a CCL, as in the market finally realised their business was returning fast and so the sp took off. I think (it's pretty obvious) the airlines, as in IAG, WIZZ, EZJ and Jet2 are extremely busy, however the market has not, as yet come to that conclusion which frankly is mystifying. OK there are staffing problems but the bottom line is the planes are RAMMED with fare paying customers, instead of being parked on the tarmac due to covid. Today the airline sp's have dived 4-6% which is shocking. Maybe to do with Cineworld shares crashing 58% and they are in the same sector for some strange reason. Inflation maybe the other reason but that is old news.
Crude oil is about 8% lower than it was a month ago and the airlines are busy as hell so this situation to me is crazy. Highly suspicious in fact..................
Unless some more solid reason comes to light before Monday I expect the airline shares to bounce back to where they were before the bell today!

Hi. I can't find a definate reason for the airline share falls except inflation (but we had that news already) and the Cineworld crash (quite why Cineworld Plc are in the same sector as the airlines eludes me!). I expect it to be combination of both. If so may well bounce Monday along with the other airline shares.

is there some other reason why the airline shares are down a lot? Why Cineworld crashing should affect the airline shares seems odd but maybe some of the bigger players have lost loads of money in Cineworld and needed to cash in other shares in the same sector??
I know we have the inflation problem but this is mostly caused by the high energy price, and Brent crude is down about 8% in the last month. Having said that the gas price is very high.
I'm assuming the drop is a combination of inflation and the Cineworld sp price crashing.
Any other views welcome.

Might even be true. They will then go long for Monday.........

However THE OIL PRICE HAS DROPPED 8% IN THE LAST MONTH ALONE.

a trading statement from at least one of the big airlines early next week. Then those who have sold today will regret it I think. Likewise anyone with a short position.
