RE: TW..conspicuous by his absence12 Feb 2018 22:44
eshaitan - There has been plenty of very positive news, some of which is revenue bearing, along with a couple of surprises from across the pond. LP-LDL developing, SlimBiome via CII AND another unknown US partner, which has taken an initial 1/4 ton of SlimBiome, with expectations of an additional 1/2 within weeks. These are significant weights that generate revenues. We also have the Chr Hansen/DSM collaboration, resulting in the LGG enhancement. This is more significant for OptiBiotic platform than the market believes.
Many PI do blame TW for the SP decline, including me and I told him so. He promptly sent me to Coventry with a few choice words on SP. He may not agree, but he has been responsible for the cycle of rerate news imminent first muted Easter 2016, then 1+ by Christmas 2016, repeated, Easter 2017 and again Christmas. He built up expectations. I have anecdotal evidence from no fewer than 17, yes, 17 PI whom I communicate with on a regular basis that blame TW's failed predictions, 6 of which have sold and moved on, 3 chase the Bitcoin rainbow and got burnt.
It is clear TW expected significant news, news he fully expected would propel the SP in a new direction, this has not come to pass. That said, there has been significant, progressive commercial news, which I believe the market does not fully appreciate. IMHO there is a clear disconnect with commercial developments and the current SP . I'm not suggest TW is fully responsible, but I am suggesting he set the tone with his expectations, and the management are unfairly being held responsible for TW's over exuberance. I'm not suggesting TW is wrong about OPTI, I'm sure he is right, but these multinational partnerships take much longer than any of us expected - I would have expected TW be experienced enough to know this. To be clear, I'm not a TW basher, I like the guy and I like the work he does and I find him to be very ethical and honest and like me, calls a spade a spade.
There is a large team in the US all this week, they have meetings with companies they have been negotiating with for 12+, so I would imagine there cold be key developments in the next few weeks. Clearly, the USA has become a hotbed of commercial activity in recent weeks, most of which has been centered around SlimBiome, yet we know SACCO had strong interest for LP-LDL potential partners for dairy products prior to SSW expo, yet we have heard nothing. History dictates radio silence usually signifies a deal is about to drop out of the blue sky, like TATA/LP-GOS. Have the team gone primed and ready to close out LP-LDL partnership? Not a scooby, but I wouldn't rule it out.
The SP is a significant disappointment these past 12/18 months, but we must remember, OPTI are merely 8 months into a commercialization phase, so lets just allow them to get on with it and stop SP watching and winding ourselves up to the poin we make rash decisions. Not you personally - generalizing.
