As an investor the short term noise offers top up opportunity and having had VOD in my sights/portfolio for some months news is going to be welcome.

I agree with the sentiment that buying now will almost certainly give an immediate 20% upside perhaps as early as Friday morning.

The major market concern was dropping out of 250. We are certain that this major major risk is now behind us.

Much of the drop was overdone by about 25p hence Barclays target of fair value at 75p. Also rating of overweight announces.

So this is not going under, not back to 50p and is most likely going to hit 75p within days.

I think you are conflating two issues.

1. The JPM derivative settlements don’t mean physical share transactions in WG and any payments by shortest closing positions is JPM profit. This is an aside.

2. The buying pressure today relates to growing expectation of either a bid or review issue. It is quite possibly due to the upgrade from Barclays.

The UT at close is at the top end of the price today suggesting bullish sentiment.

RO point about the buzzards circling is funny - he is a frustrated thespian making a quick penny with fast and loose metaphors.

Why did the unknown parties close the positions with JPM.

I think that Blake at the bus stop who said that the merger will happen might be right.
