Bnb – Re your comment on my earlier post: ‘there is nothing to settle , nothing has gone wrong , just maybe a week more in Rotterdam’. That’s your opinion and fine you stick with that – I seem to remember your opinion back in sept was that the AM would be in Rotterdam for just a week, prior to departing for the field. It was imho actually hanging around offshore for about that length of time, waiting for the parts to arrive before it moved into Rotterdam for remedial work to commence. So I believe different to you, but everyone is entitled to their own view of reality…all planned for; down to spirit deal etc. HUR’s H1 2019 old official target for foil, will of course be met – it could have been much sooner that’s all – imo of course, but I fully realise most disagree with this. You have also mentioned the sweepstake and seem to make some link with O&G experience being key for an accurate prediction– well I’ve worked on drydock refurbs and on/offshore all over the world for 4 majors so far, and I predicted foil happening 2 months ago..and so was totally wrong in my guess. I had no inkling back then though, of any DW issues. Peeps can believe what they want re any delay (or not), whether HUR/BW planned on the fpso arriving on station WoS for a January hook-up, everyone’s prerogative to do so. I am sure the truth will out at next year’s AGM or perhaps even before then in a statement from the company. I’m pretty sure however, despite all our differing ‘opinions’, as to what’s actually gone on, that ultimately, we all want the same positive outcome for HUR in 2019.
A liquidated damages clause was discussed on here a few days ago re the DW failings/breach of contract. I think it would have been nigh on impossible prior to work commencement, to have foreseen what areas of the refurb would have needed a recovery of losses estimation and then with any degree of accuracy, calculated same. Consequently, I think unliquidated damages is the route BW will now follow to recover all of their unexpected costs re AM and any relevant damages. This normally goes through the court process, but in this instance, I am sure the world’s best drydock 2018, will want to settle on the qt and protect it’s totally unwarranted, reputation.
slipanchor- totally agree, think it'll be the first and last time HH will use the dubai yard..top quality work and timely delivery was a prerequisite. hope no significant delays in either spain or holland and AM gets to lerwick before xmas...then fingers crossed for a brief calm period to enable foil asap in 2019.
Cebo-the mighty keyboard warrior and an expert on 'clowns talking bollix'. Just spent 10 mins reading your old posts. some hilarious stuff in there. "no major jobs left..all safety critical systems signed off..expect sea trials end of june". If you want to believe the delay was planned in, down to spirit or whatever, then so be it, wtf difference does it make now anyway? Facts will out in the end.
Cebo - things don't always run smoothly and to plan.. but such is life. I'm not going to waste any further comment on this as it is of course history and AM is finally on its way. I was simply informing the bb about the delay. Clearly you know best.
Hi extrader - I know long-range weather forecasting is often inaccurate, but a number of sources are implying a moderate el nino event this winter due to recent solar activity, with icy blasts and persistent strong winds particularly affecting Scotland and the north. But hey, who knows? As far as the issues in Dubai are concerned, this is a well-connected board and many are (or have connections still) within the O&G industry. HUR is top of the radar with all the majors, and there are few secrets about what goes on. but sorry I can't elucidate further. It's history now, but I just wanted to say it had nothing to do with 'spirit' and unfortunately, was just a mixture of poor workmanship and supervision. Hopefully, fpso in Lerwick this time next month and the forecasters are wrong and hook-up happens quickly.
The delay was due to problems with the work completed in Dubai and had nothing to do with the Spirit deal, which had been in the pipeline for many months. Let's just say, they didn't have the best people on the job and butts have been kicked over the delay. The timeline is critical now due to the weather window and the impending bad weather forecast for the next 4 months, as HUR had planned to 'over-deliver' and have FOIL well before H119.
Hi Reverandy - Can you put me down for 22nd October, 2018 please. Charity = Melanoma Focus. Many thanks.
