Roundtable Discussion; The Future of Mineral Sands. Watch the video here.
What a fantastic couple of weeks we have had here! Even we couldn’t surely had visualised the rapid turnaround!!
Remember nothing is certain but surely this time we are on the right track and the future looks at least so rosey now!!
I’m still off my average of around 30p but to be honest from the dark days of being 85% down on my substantial investment here pressure did take a toll!! However, with some great fellow investors here during the dark times at least one had been positive at any point in time (particularly BB) and managed to keep ourselves still on track and not throwing in the towel!! I’d also like to thank Notes for his humour and temper tantrums keeping me real!!
One comment I would like to say is that for me I know AB has taken some serious criticism on this board. I would like to say that I have never made any bad criticism of him (I can’t say the same for JR) and always had faith in him . I always said from the first time I met him that he would either be a great salesman or a conman!! Fortunately he is the former!! I do think he inherited a poor hand and at times he has purposely had to be economical with the truth to see this thing through otherwise the company may have gone under!! I do feel that he’s an honest charismatic character that will guide this company well through commercialisation and beyond and we should all be grateful for what he has done!! Yes he has been remunerated well but in terms of where we maybe in the future this is small fry. I for one during my dark days knew if we had an RNS for the resignation of AB then we might have as well sold out!!
Congratulations to AB and of course he could not have done where we are today without the team at AFC... we still have a long way to go but you have done a grand job in turning this around and keep it up!! Thank you!!
Good luck to all LTH and looking forward to seeing some of you on the 6th!! We need to organise a £1 share party!!! Chippyjo as we all know has great organisational skills!!:-))
I’ve had my confirmation too along with a couple of other investor mates!!
As far as Bond is concerned yes he has been handsomely paid, but throughout this whole history of the past 3 years there have been many times that I thought this ship had sunk!!
However, one aspect that made me stay invested was that Bond had never walked! If he had, I would have sold up and taken an almighty hit on my substantial holding! I’ve never blamed him, but I’m sure he has had to walk a very difficult tightrope to keep this afloat and probably more than we have ever or likely to know!! I’m sure that with his contacts he could have easily been employed elsewhere but obviously has seen the vision that hopefully we could now fulfil.
Looking forward to seeing all/some of you next month and hopefully more great news soon!!

Hi Chippyjo
Firstly thanks for doing the a letter to AB well done and appreciated!! I’ve been off the boards for a while and just catching up but I see the letter has gone! Don’t know if this has been mentioned but the only addition I would have made would be reciting the previous good communication and quarterly updates we used to get and also how many members there are in the shareholder group and an indicative size of our holding ....just so that they do not think it’s not a small group!! Don’t know if this has been mentioned!!
One other thought I have is whether it might be worth getting a copy of this letter to or approaching the fund manager at Schroeders as a matter of interest with them!! I know institutional investors are clearly treated differently but If they also see we PIs are as unhappy as this with the BOD/communication then it may have some further indirect influence / pressure on BOD! I’m sure that Schroeders also wouldn’t want to see us PIs as disgruntled as we are and the SP languishing where it is!!!
Fuelcellinvestor I agree with your sentiments and hope Jimmynan comes back with some positives!!
Out of interest you have a great handle on here for AFC but hadn’t seen you post before! How long have you been in AFC?
It would be nice to see how the remote EV charger process would be configured from start to finish... I guess they might be showing this at the NEC... maybe Jimiam might bring us something back today!!!
Yes, good to start putting their product out there in the market place of finally (& hopefully)a workable commercial product!!
I’m also liking from the RNS the bit “set for release in Q4 2019”... am I wrong or is this the first commitment we’ve seen from them for a saleable product wise??... progress indeed!!!
BB...Only due to the fact that they would need to provide an estimated lifecycle/performance of the product! No one would buy anything if you didn’t know how long it is “likely to last” which is completely different to “warranted to last!”
I would have thought that hey would have wanted to continue to test to destruction!! You wouldn’t just want to test until your warranty period ran out? It would be like motor manufacturers saying your car is expired after 3 years!! Generally warranty time periods are given on the knowledge that the product will far outstrip that period and then offer a non committal lifecycle target based on set criteria or average usuals!!!
One concern I did see from the RNS was they mention continual usage hopefully the factor of switching on / off is also included in this!!
Otherwise for me a very positive RNS and good to see Denora coming to the table to add reiterate their commitment!!
Looking forward to the rest of Q3/Q4 and we’ll done to the AFC team.... albeit frustrating for us PI’s
I know through my business that there is always a big seminar gravy train with people creating a business out of seminars ....but I wonder whether AFC will have a representation on this one on Nov 5th??
