MSC updates emergency fuel surcharge on Europe, Red Sea and East Africa trades24 Apr 2026 09:49
I knew Bunker Fuel prices would have risen due to the Oil supply situation, but I hadn't looked at them until today, as with the big orange baby you never know what will happen the next minute let alone the next day, but as he's now saying he's not going to rush into signing a deal, it means Oil supply will remain constructed for the foreseeable. And many analysts are saying even if they get the blockades removed, it's going to take a long time to get supply back to where it was.

Bunker Fuel price in Rotterdam, went from just below $450 to $900, have eased back to a little under $700 but are creeping up in line with Oil going back above$100. No doubt this will help focus MSC and other shipping companies on any cost saving measures like MSAR and bioMSAR can offer and, on helping get alternative fuels (not those derived from fossil fuels like LNG and Methanol) into the market, Biofuels, bioMSAR, bioMSAR Zero etc, so they can try to avoid future Oil price shocks. (In the same way that most countries are now looking to spend big on Wind and Solar to cut Oil import dependency).
