RE: Cinema is not dead27 Aug 2022 13:25
I'm not a shareholder here but thought I'd jump in on this thread.
I watched a lot of shows and movies on Netflix and streaming throughout the pandemic/lockdowns. Recently I have looked forward to getting away from the small screen (zoom fatigue and all that) and have started going to the cinema much more regularly than I did pre-pandemic.
Over the past couple of months I've watched 'The Black Phone', 'Bullet Train', 'Top Gun Maverick', 'Thor Love and Thuder', and looking forward to watching 'Nope' this weekend.
Can't comment on any of the Cineworld theatres, but have visited Vue and Empire. Really impressed with all the improvements (probably accelerated by the social distancing requirements).
There may be less seats in each auditorium but what luxury, reclining seats with tray tables and cup holders, and loads of room to stretch out!
If they haven't already, studios should now be revising their pandemic strategy of releasing straight to streaming platforms and plan for some more theatrical releases.
Anyway, I hope there is a postive outcome for Cineworld and its shareholders here.
