British company and Morocco's energy ministry are negotiating the gas sale agreement

The British company Sound Energy , which operates gas concessions in Morocco, is currently negotiating with the Moroccan Ministry of Energy, Mines and Sustainable Development a gas sales agreement for the production that will result of the Grand Tendrara project .

As part of this agreement, Sound Energy would like to commercialize all the project's gas production to the National Office of Electricity and Drinking Water ( ONEE ), a Moroccan public company in charge of the distribution of electricity and some water.

The signing of the gas sales agreement is a "crucial step" before the final investment decision of Sound Energy and its partners for the development of the project, Energies Media learned in an official note from the British company.
The Grand Tendrara project, the result of the Tendrara and Matarka concessions , was approved by the Moroccan authorities in October 2018. It covers a total area of ??14,500 km² in eastern Morocco; and is led by an association including Sound Energy (operator with a 47.5% stake), Schlumberger (27.5%) and the Moroccan National Office of Hydrocarbons and Mines ( Onhym ) which holds the remaining 25%.

Exploration well drilling has already begun in the concession.

According to the operator, once in production, the project will reduce Morocco's dependence on Algerian gas imports. It should also promote the establishment of a new gas transmission infrastructure in eastern Morocco, connected to the Maghreb-Europe gas pipeline.

The Maghreb-Europe gas pipeline, also called the " Pedro Duran Farell gas pipeline " , which is approximately 1,300 km long, is used to transport Algerian natural gas to Spain. It starts from the Hassi R'mel deposit in Algeria and joins Cordoba in Spain via Morocco.

This is one of the biggest features of oil and gas exploration in Morocco: the exploration potential is still under-exploited. With a total exploration area of ??around 737,850.4 km², and a very large portfolio of prospects, not yet impacted by drilling, the Kingdom has a large potential for very promising exploration opportunities. This potential offers specialized E & P (Exploration & Production) companies a considerable geological variety in onshore and offshore, Mediterranean and Atlantic. So far, 70 research permits and 10 operating concessions have been awarded to international companies specializing in oil and gas exploration. A total of 351 exploration wells were drilled in the country. The most publicized among them is the large Tendrara Basin, whose commercial exploitation is planned for 2021, one of the big announcements of the sector.

The region of Tendrara located in the Oriental has been the subject of considerable work, started for decades and is now a new hydrocarbon exploration site in Morocco. Following extensive exploration work by ONHYM and its two partners Sound Energy and Schlumberger, which allowed the drilling of three wells between 2016 and 2017, a commercial gas and condensate buildup was revealed in two wells. . Thus, a production concession was awarded to these two companies in August 2018 for the development and production of the gas field. Sound Energy, the Moroccan focused upstream gas company, is pleased to provide a further update on the TE-7 well reservoir pressure, following the latest retrieval of the pressure gauge data. The measured pressure data provides further information on the extent and quality of the reservoir at TE-7 and provides additional confidence for the development plan of the Company's existing TE-5 Horst discovery, which remains subject to Final Investment Decision.

The latest pressure measurements reveal a current reservoir pressure of 413.4 bara at the TE-7 well location with the pressure continuing to increase towards the original reservoir pressure of 422.6 bara confirmed by the Company on 19 July 2017. The period of pressure monitoring has been extended to observe this continued pressure increase and will continue. The pressure build-up trend is important information as it allows the Company to estimate the connected volume of in place gas ("GOIP") accessible by the TE-7 well.

Analysis of the pressures measured in the well recorded over time has led to an increase in the Company's estimate of connected GOIP around TE-7 to a volume exceeding 115 Bscf. Historical analysis of the pressure trend, announced on 19 July 2017, had previously shown that the volume of connected GOIP around TE-7 exceeded 40 Bscf.

The significant increase in the Company's estimates of minimum GOIP connected to the TE-7 well provides support for the Company's field development plan consisting of a number of horizontal stimulated production wells spaced to optimise recovery.

Exploration when did BM mention that we are waiting for a coiled tubing rig? I'm very familiar we the size and uses of coiled tubing, and if a full sized unit is required that will take time to mobilise and rig up.........not just a simple part we are waiting for but the main unit.

Murphy Oil Corp is exiting Malaysia with a $2.13 billion sale of its oil and gas assets there to Thailand’s PTTEP and said it will use the proceeds to pay down debt, buy back shares and fund potential deals in the United States.

Besides the enterprise value of the sale, PTT Exploration and Production Public Co Ltd (PTTEP), a unit of state-owned PTT PCL, will also pay Murphy Oil up to $100 million as a bonus if certain exploration projects show results before October 2020, the companies said on Thursday.

2018 was a very active year for Sound Energy delivering on our priorities to de-risk and advance our existing discovery and unlock our significant exploration potential.

During the year, Sound Energy focused on safely delivering its Moroccan growth strategy which culminated in the recommencement of exploration drilling operations on the Tendrara licences in Eastern Morocco. During the year, in addition to the exploration drilling programme, the Company was awarded a 25-year exploitation (production) concession for the TE-5 discovery at Tendrara (less than two years from discovery), entered into a Heads of Terms with a Spanish consortium embracing the development infrastructure, completed its fully Schlumberger-carried Eastern Morocco 2D seismic programme, commenced the process to introduce Schlumberger directly onto the Eastern Morocco licences and was awarded new eight-year Petroleum Agreements for Sidi Moktar, Tendrara and Anoual. The Company is now well advanced in the execution of its Moroccan strategy which includes early options for monetisation.
Strengthening the Moroccan Portfolio
The Company continues to believe that the TAGI and Palaeozoic plays across Tendrara and Anoual have the potential to become a material hydrocarbon province, transforming both the Company and the Moroccan gas industry. In 2018, the Company strengthened its licence position by securing a new eight-year licence combining Tendrara and Matarka. In addition, the Company's Moroccan strategic partner, Schlumberger, underlined its commitment to its partnership with Sound Energy and to the Tendrara licences by issuing notice to convert its synthetic commercial interest in the licences to a full participating licence interest.
Sound Energy continued to deepen its knowledge of the Eastern Morocco basin through, in part, the completion in August 2018 of the US$27.2 million seismic programme which was fully funded by Schlumberger. This work has supported our new Eastern Morocco basin model and was critical to minimising the risk of the 2018/19 exploration drill programme.
Exploration Drilling Programme
In October, following an extensive pre-drill exploration work programme and detailed well planning, the Company embarked upon drilling the first well in a three-well exploration campaign in Eastern Morocco. The first well, TE-9, targeting the A1 structure at Tendrara, was safely drilled ahead of schedule and under budget. The well encountered approximately 60m gross section in the primary TAGI objective, consisting of dolomitized silty sandstones. In the secondary Palaeozoic objective consisted of an approximately 630m of a Westphalian aged succession of fine sandstones, siltstones and mudstones. The wireline logs did not indicate the presence of producible gas in either the primary or secondary objectives. Subsequent petrophysical analysis indicated that the intervals are of low porosity and therefore poor reservoir quality. Despite the poor

The oil potential of Morocco's sedimentary basins is beginning to attract many oil exploration majors. The latest is the British Predator Gas Ventures Limited. In its edition of the day, L'Economiste reports that the company has just signed with the National Office of hydrocarbons and mines (Onhym) the first oil agreement of the year. The newspaper ensures that 12 more are coming. "The other firms we approach are CNPC, Europa Oil & Gas, SDX Energy, Hunt Oil, Total, Anadarko, Cairn Energy, Angel Rose, Shell, Woodside, ConocoPhillips, Chariot Oil & Gas," the paper said.

In the meantime, this first contract takes place on the "Guercif Onshore" zone, which adjoins Tendrara, whose gas potential is confirmed. The Economist says Predator Gas Ventures Limited is not the only company willing to invest in oil drilling in Morocco.
