Brian Cowan is once again asking why the report on Ireland Energy Security has not been published by Minister Eamonn Ryan the individual responsible for Irelands Energy Security.
Six Months since the report has been in the possession of the Minister. This report must be devastating , the situation must be dire.
The Big Questions are why is there no insistance by An Taoiseach Leo Varadkar and the Tanaiste Micheal Martin and Simon Coveney that this Report on Irelands Energy Security be published immediately.
I call on these aforementioned Politicans to demand the Publication of the Report.
The Irish Public have a right to know the facts of the present and future appraisal of the Energy Security situation.
Barry Cowen says the state ‘keeps failing the public on security of energy supply, costs and strategy’ https://www.businesspost.ie/news/fianna-fail-td-accuses-eamon-ryan-of-sitting-on-power-supply-crisis-report-for-six-months/?utm_campaign=article&utm_source=email&utm_medium=web
Well Minister Eamonn Ryan, no update from you our your Department on this precarious situation for Ireland.

Quoted 6 to 8 years for an Electricity supply.
Equinix told the council that it has tried to secure a connection with EirGrid for the permitted data centre at Profile Park but has not been successful in doing so, and that it has been verbally confirmed by ESB that it can make a proposal for power supply to the site in six to eight years.

It highlights the facts that Ireland is desperately short of Natural-Gas.
This Natural-Gas requirement should be sourced from our own indigenous supplies.
The Natural-Gas associated with the Barryroe Discovery, by the drilling and proving up the Inishkea and associated prospects, and the drilling of Corrib Deep as a first stage of development.
Ireland would be one of the few countries in Europe able to supply its own Natural Gas National requirments for decades ahead.
Now we have the situation with our ageing Electricity Generating Stations to resolve.
Under some fanfare the Taoiseach at the time Micheal Martin stated throughout the media that Ireland required the construction of 7 Natural-Gas Electricity Generating Stations to meed the Electricity demand both at present and in the near future.
No further significant updates on this subject since.
In addition no further updates on the 40 or so jet engines that Minister Eamonn Ryan rented or purchased to convert to Electricity Generation to backup the conventional production to meet increasing National demands.
Or perhaps there is insufficient capacity within the Moffat pipeline to satisfy this further Natural-Gas Supply demand.
The conventional electricity production must be able to meet present and near term National demands.
Wind farms and solar panels will not produce on demand Electricity
Their production of Electricity varies fromm 100% of realistic potential to as low of less than 1% for days on end.
Therefore the inability of the Republic of Ireland to produce its own Electricity to meet present and future demand is a serious and increasing situation to the stability of the Economy.
One could also include the importation of Electricity via the interconner from Wales to the Republic of Ireland
This interconnector has the capability to carry in the region of 350 MWh of Electricity .
This safety net is being utilised by the Republic of Ireland to prevent the lights going out.
Both the interconnecor from Northern Ireland and the interconnector from Wales could potentially have no available Electricity to export to the Republic of Ireland in the near future.
Potential major problems for Minister Eamonn Ryan and and his Government Partners.
Leo Varadkar and Tanaiste Michael Martin.
The construction of the new Natural-Gas Electricity Generating Station in Northern Ireland due to commence production in October 2023 will now be delayed until we'll into 2024.
The ageing Coal fired stations which will cease production as planned in late 2023.
The Republic of Ireland imports up to 400 + MWh of Electricity from Northern Ireland.
The real possibility this safety net of importation of Electricity will not be available.
In addition 3 Coal fired Electricty Generating Stations in England are being decommissioned at present.
This will place the United Kingdom Electricity supply grid under severe stress.
This article delivers the non blinkered insight as to the consequences of no direct supply of Electricity to the Republic of Ireland from Northern Ireland.

Ireland will be without its only indigenous Natural-Gas Supply.
Natural Gas supply verses demand down 20%.
Downtime for Corrib is nigh.
Ireland will be without the Corrib Natural-Gas while the maintenance proceeds.
An extended maintenance could be required if additional engineering works are necessary.

The 30 day shut of Corrib for maintenance is a guideline I presume.
One never knows what further engineering work requirments could possibly be uncovered once the maintenance proceeds.
Indeed the lead time for delivery of unanticipated components or parts may be protracted.
The consequences could be dramatic.
The Moffat pipeline must be at capacity volumes at present.
The major Natural-Gas pipeline from Norway to the UK is at capacity volumes.
There are no further updates regarding the jet engines acquired by Minister Eamonn Ryan to generate additional Electricity .
I would like to know if there is even enough available Natural-Gas to run these jet engines even for a few hours let alone for days on end.
They could easily be white elephants.
Ireland could be prone to Electricity blackouts during this necessary shutdown.
In such instance the citizens and Industry and the economy and reputation for foreign multinationals to locate and invest will be materially damaged on an International level.
The executives in these relevant boardsrooms will be giving the thumbs down to Ireland.
Hopefully this Irish Government will finally see the light on encourage the exploration license holders to procced with their endeavours to discover further Natural-Gas and Petroleum resources. This Government prior to election and publicily on many occasions since have said that all existing Exploration Licenses issued by previous Irish Governments will be honoured and the Exploration Companies permitted to proceed with their work programs.
This aforementioned situation would not be occurring if Ireland had additional indigenous Natural-Gas production at present.
Financial settlement should be at least x 5 times the sum mentioned.
The destruction of the Business Model of the Company.
The lost income over 20 plus years.
Price Inflation had to be included.
The proximity of the Natural-Gas and Petroleum rediscovery to the markedly place.
This resource is not in middle of the Sahara.
It is 20 to 30 Kilometres from its prime marketplace.
The pipeline infrastructure in the vicinity adds to value of the prospect.
The Legal Teams will put Minister Ryan and this Irish Government through a high spin

Apparently the UK Government are as misguided as the Irish Government.
The Irish Government would rather see the bountiful reserves of Natural-Gas and Petroleum offshore Irelands coast remain untapped .
Ireland is dependent on the Natural-Gas and Petroleum supplies it receives from and via the UK.
How long will both Countries economies function for without the North Sea production.
With this WFT income profitability will be severely restricted
A solution producers of Natural-Gas and Petroleum in the Noth Sea reduce production as a consequence of the new economic situation.
This should resolve the situation.
If not cease production entirely for an undefined time until the muddy waters become clear and the WTF is removed.
Could anyone possibly guess which Ministers Porfolio includes Aviation and the Airports?.

It won't be long before the UK Government realises they can not export any Electricity to the Republic of Ireland while their own National Electricity supply is in deficit to demand.

The announcement by the ESB that they plan to construct an additional Natural-Gas Electricity Generating Station output 299 MW while welcome is a somewhat late to avoid an Electricity Supply crisis in the Republic of Ireland.
The previous Taoiseach Micheal Martin stated about 1 year ago that Irelands requires 7 Natural-Gas Electricity Generating Station to meet the the projected Electricity demand. From memory the planning for construction was anticipated to start in 2023. The duration of Construction of each Natural-Gas Electricity Generating of similar output is in the region of 2 -3 Years all going to plan.
I await news on the 6 further Natural-Gas Generating Stations.
Perhaps the Natural Gas supply or lack of to fuel these Electricity Generating Stations has become a reality and has resulted in the delay.
