I find point 2 very interesting but from a different and potentially more positive perspective. Would we not expect the serious lack of investment in the ‘big project’ 2014 onwards to start having an impact on global production by 2020/2021? If so what could this mean for the price of oil or will OPEC simply up production?

As you say off topic but I could not understand why a poster would be questioning Iran’s presence/influence in certain countries in the region when even Iran does not.

I agree anything that can make the UK less dependent on this enduring powder keg of a region can only be a good thing. It will also be a pretty good thing for us guys as well if we get the right numbers - assuming neither the SNP or labour get an opportunity to get their grubby mitts on our oil first.

Maybe for the same reason they were ‘stupid’ enough to shoot down an American drone, send a recently released oil tanker to offload in Syria several days after promising this would not happen and seize other vessels in the straits of H. It does not take a genius to work out the Iranians don’t seem overly anxious about upsetting the US at the moment. This maybe a risky strategy but when you have a US president who stepped back from responding to the drone attack, who’s support base is predominantly isolationist (with an election not too far away), who wants to suppress oil price, who styles himself as a ‘deal maker’ and who has just sacked his hawkish NSA maybe the Iranians just believe they have him sussed. If they can make him look weak through a failure to respond or eventually provoke him to sanction a military response, then who wins out? Either way there is a possibility that Trump’s isolationist but nationalistic support base may turn against him and then guess who wins the next presidential election. I wonder why Iran would wish to see another Obama back in charge?
Why do you question Iran’s presence in such countries as Syria, Iraq, Lebanon and Yemen when they actually seem quite proud of the fact?

Could it be for the benefit of solg shareholders too? With PEA expected any time soon could this not also be meant to remind us we are not just wanting the first low bids that come in for the whole thing.

KOH - I understand where you are coming from but excessive debt brings considerable risk. Every company that takes on debt does so in the belief that their projected future profits will be able to deal with it over time. Yet history is littered with companies who have failed or where shareholders have been diluted almost down to nothing because companies have not been able to meet the obligations of such debt. No shareholder likes the idea of dilution but sometimes it is necessary for a balanced and more cautious approach to financing.

There is nothing diverse about a group of people overwhelmingly from the same social class and that share a similar mindset/personality. Something that looks different but sounds the same is not diversity. From this perspective you are of course further narrowing the talent pool and certainly not widening it.

Yes by 1% each year up to the 10%. Staff allowed up to £500 each I believe and the plan is the government grabs the remainder. Difficult to imagine any company potentially impacted would remain listed in the UK - unless of course they might be dependent on a government guarantee to secure the necessary financial backing and therefore have no choice. With a general election potentially in the offing any time this is not the best.

HMRC I believe have a pretty extensive list of stock exchanges that qualify for ISA entry. I think it's more a case of does your ISA operator allow you to deal in shares held outside a UK stock exchange and if so, what are the charges A) for doing that and B) for currency transfers. You may therefore need to investigate transferring your ISA to another operator if this goes ahead. Any suggestions from anyone?

I have a relatively small investment here already and decided to dip my toes a little deeper with the share offer. I am looking to invest further funds in something that offers potentially high returns albeit at a not inconsiderable risk over the medium to long term. I do like your straight talking, factual based approach here (the positives & the negatives), not to mention appreciate you sharing your knowledge on this company in the first place. Assuming the share holders are not stupid enough to vote against this measure first off how do you rate this company's ability to 'crack the Bazhenov', also within the financial constraints of the restructure, and if they did what sort of share price could we expect to reach going forward? Then there is the international situation to consider - the Saudis seem intent on pricing the frackers out of the market and what will be the impact on tightening international sanctions if the Ukraine issue persists? How much do these factors concern you?

In regards to the open offer I have already used up my allowance for this year. Now we are past the ex entitlement date can I sell existing rpo shares in the ISA (assuming price remains above 10p) to finance the purchase? Alternatively does anyone know if I can purchase my Open offer shares outside of my ISA if I cannot raise the funds within the ISA?
