Oil price sky news19 Mar 2026 07:11
The oil price has continued to rise this morning, ratcheting up further after increases yesterday afternoon.
A barrel of Brent crude oil, the benchmark price, now costs just below $113.
That's not much lower than the $118 highest point reached since the war in Iran began.
Before the war, oil cost around $72 per barrel.
It comes as attacks on key energy infrastructure heightened concerns of disruption to global oil and gas flows.
UK gas prices, too, have been on the rise for most of the past day, priced at 139 pence per therm, a slight dip from last night but still closer to the wartime high of 164 pence.
