EnergyQuest identifies “a glimmer of good news” in the latest exploration statistics and calls out a number of shape shifting exploration successes that have been made recently on either wing of the petroleum nation. The now Santos-led Dorado oil find offshore in Western Australia looms as a signal change in the direction of domestic oil production and the opening of Origin Energy’s two-well 2019 campaign in the potentially liquids-rich Beetaloo Basin in the Northern Territory might well generate a whole lot more oily momentum. The renewed activity in offshore Victorian drilling that will see Exxon run a deep-water Bass Strait play this year delivered early success on Friday with Cooper Energy reporting a discovery around its new Minerva infrastructure. And there is some excitement being evinced too on the northern frontiers of local gas exploration in the form of the Dukas play in the Northern Territory and the re-appraisal of the potential of the Galilee Basin that is being led by Comet Ridge and others. Last week Comet Ridge reported encouraging gas shows from its Albany-2 well, which is a step-out some 7.5 kilometres from the trouble-plagued but thesis proving Albany-1 discovery. These are rocks that were drilled during the 1990s but the pathway to making them productive remained elusive. Comet and its partner Vintage reckon they have cracked that code while their seismic studies indicates they are drilling one very large structure. Making a success of the Dukas campaign being waged by Santos and Central Petroleum might prove an even bigger game-changer. It is a multi-trillion cubic feet play whose importance is affirmed by the fact that Santos decided to risk delay to its own Beetaloo adventure rather than suspend troubled progress at Dukas (the same rig was supposed to run both campaigns). Frustratingly, while drilling confirmed hydrocarbons and inert gases at Dukas, progress ended up being halted before more definitive testing because very high pressures threatened the integrity of the rig and the safety of the people running it. But the fact of those very high pressures was encouraging only because the mission here was to test whether the massive structure was a gas trap. It sure is. What makes Dukas a possible game changer is that, if it proves as big as Santos and Central hope, then success could finally justify the NT to Moomba pipeline link that should always have been the first cab of the rank of northern pipelines.

This week, I spent a few days in the Beetaloo Basin in the Northern Territory where Origin has recommenced exploration activity and will shortly start drilling the first of two exploration wells to test for the presence of liquids-rich gas. We’re in the final stages of preparation for the first of these new wells, with the drilling rig arriving from Western Australia, the well-pad almost complete and the workers camp also set up on site.

It was great to meet with one of our host pastoralist families and spend time with them to learn more about their business and how we can work productively alongside them.

If our exploration and appraisal work show there’s a viable resource, it’s a project we believe could be transformational for the Northern Territory, our host pastoralists and Native Title holders as well as the Territory economy more broadly by way of more jobs and business opportunities, as well as the community in the form of royalty payments back to the Territory government. We’re excited to be back on the ground.

Ok it looks like Hilcorp has some cash to burn they just spend about 5.6 Billion buying BP Alaska business $. So Schlemiel maybe right Hilcorp sitting on the board for directors for Origin is very interesting move with very interesting potentials for Falcon.

Looks like Origin posted another job involving beetaloo. JV partner management and M&A just few requirements that are interesting.

I am celebrating this today!

Here is the thing I do not think Origin will give an inch or cm in this situation and they want the court to determine what is the "damage". So here are my analysis Brett B bought this property for ~ 20million AS$ or so size of the property 811,000 acres disturbance area by origin at the most probably about 5 acres so the payment is 124$.

Ok time is keep moving and if it goes into September our hopes of drilling this year are over. Then we better secure everything for the next year and start as early as time allows
