Long term stalker here. Echoing the thanks to Ian and all the meaningful contributors, especially Rowka, over the last 12 months.
72p on Monday the 5th of October. Hopefully more!
I hope I'm wrong and it's much higher!
This message board is like the share... As dead as a door nail.
Anyone got a clue what's going on?
I am, by a large extent, a consumer of information on this board, rather than a contributor. I have held this share since the Northcote days, when I read an article published by none other than Hargreaves Lansdown, stating that the company under Randy's leadership was looking promising, and worth a punt. (As an aside, they took that article and all reference to it down within months of publishing it, which isn't wasted on me in significance.) Since then, I have followed the message boards, and averaged down quite a few times. Unlike others on here though, I don't blame anyone other than myself for this poor investment. And the crux of this post is... "Helpful" is by far the only poster on here who actually conveys any information that is material to the operations or financials of the company, in a meaningful and rational way. So how about the mob lay off a bit, for if he can't be arsed to do this anymore, this message board will just become another gigantic moan fest.
And, in anticipation of the recriminations and accusations that may follow, I know no-one in the company, who "Helpful" actually is, or anyone else on here, for that matter. Just an opinion someone who's also lost the majority of his value here, and hung in for far too long.
Shocking results and shocking management. No updates to the market, just a value-obliterating set of interim results. "Lord" Moynihan should resign. It was less than a year ago that he was selling the pipe-dream of dividends following his months long "strategic review." What was the outcome of that, exactly? Summarised on a slide: "Let's sell yet another part of the business to Andrew Black. The End."
They've burnt through the cash raised and have had to go back to Black, cap in hand. Utterly incompetent.
How is there a 30% spread on this stock at these levels!? Fishy as.
Looks to me like someone is dumping fast this morning. News now, good, bad or indifferent, is better than nothing. At least it restores trust, which has been sorely lacking in the past.
The sell-off continues. I wonder if someone knows something the rest of us don't. Now 16% under placing price.
Thanks for the insights, much appreciated. I think everyone involved with this share can do with some good news!
No problem with respectful disagreement, the point of a forum after all. I am a reasonably informed layman, not an expert in the field by any means.
I'd be interested in a view on the following though. Firstly, is the main op-ex cost not the cost of electricity? Has this remained constant? And secondly, having read the annual statements over the last couple of years, it would seem as though HYR had lost market share due to their absence from the market, whilst the rebuild was taking place. Not clear whether this was for their product only, or impacted feed stock supplies as well?
It is valid to ask whether the business case was there, initially, and with the benefit of hindsight.
In the room is the decision to massively increase capacity after the fire, without the foresight to understand the impact on the business of not being able to secure feed stock to utilise that capacity. Unfortunately, this was an undeniable strategic error. I didn't see it coming; management certainly should have. I continue to believe in what they're doing, I'm just not sure it's a business.
Which is?
As a long-suffering yet patiently waiting PI on this stock, can someone perhaps tell me... Why does this firm not provide quarterly production stats? Any theories welcome!
It has to be said, the RNS is devoid of anything new, and therefore, not much to get excited about. There's nothing in there that we didn't know about 3 months ago. For instance, setting an expectation of a timeline towards full profitability would be extremely encouraging.
