allybally - Clearly I believe the SP is grossly undervalued, but sadly it doesn't matter what I think. Like fleccy I believe the long term prospects are good, as long as OFCOM don't set more bear traps for BT. With positive government backing for rural roll outs and a general freeing up of red tape I consider the medium to long term prospects to be healthy. Add to this a leaner and, hopefully, meaner management structure in the group and I would expect to see blue skies ahead within 12-15 months.

I totally concur with your observation. I had the misfortune to regularly present to 27 Fund Management Groups across Europe over a 20 year period. I presented to both fund managers and analysts, with telecoms forming a good part of my remit. 99% of the time I left meetings staggered at the level of ignorance that I had encountered. Seriously, these people may have high powered, lucrative roles in the investment community, but many simply did not know which way was up. I frequently despaired, knowing that countless billions of investors money was in their, mostly, incapable hands. Only once over this 20 year period did I meet an analyst who was fully informed and capable, the rest I'm afraid were a genetic waste of space.

Pokerchips - No. They were purchased within the legal timeframe. The bottom line is that if he doesn't have a grasp of the figures and the underlying direction of travel then no-one does, including the CEO and Chairman. Simples!

Call me naive, but I'm anticipating better than expected results next week. After all when BT's risk averse Chief Financial Officer buys shed loads of shares for both he and his wife (way North of today's SP) it does beg the very simple question "What does he know that the City doesn't?". The answer quite simply is "loads more".

You clearly haven't bothered to listen to any of the webcasts and the analyst Q&As. Everything has been explained at length ad nauseum.

For a contract that is going to reduce Free Cash Flow by an estimated 4% and will not fully impact the bottom line until FY2023 (even though the contract runs out in 2021) the market's reaction seems a tad over cooked.

Chrisparker1981 - A vast raft of BT offices are being emptied across the country and if you had read earlier RNS's you would know why. It's part of the overall restructuring and rationalistion process and absolutely nothing to do with "going bankrupt", as you so 'astutely' observe. Old, old news, I'm afraid. But good news, if you want a leaner and meaner BT further down the line. Turning a supertanker like BT takes time, but it is on the correct course. The current strategy is on the money and will start to reap rewards over the next 12-18 months.

Avrohom - Can you kindly tell me how many customers BT have lost and over what timescale? As far as I am aware customer churn is very low in both broadband and mobile. I know for a fact they were gaining market share in both BB and mobile over the period 2014-2017. So what data do you have (other than personal and anecdotal) do you have to support your claim?

I have to disagree, as Deutsche Telekom has never been a broker.

Abkaz - I respect your opinion, but you have overlooked we are no longer on AIM, and, therefore, no longer at the mercy of spivs and shorters. And for the time being I am grateful for that.
