RE: 4th wave Covid 19 to kill 1/2M people in Europe by March - WHO23 Nov 2021 08:20
Okehurst1, the situation here on the continent varies greatly by country. Here in Belgium, we have higher vaccination than the UK and the majority of 12+ year olds fully vaccinated. There are however big discrepancies by region with Brussels (itself a region) being quite low. I was in the city centre Sunday when the reported riots were taking place. Fortunately, didn't see anything and our masked trip to the theatre was wonderful. Watching later on BBC and Belgian news, the majority of rioters were those who had been involved in the summer disturbances and happy to have the chance to give the police a kicking. The general population remain relatively accepting of the limited restrictions in place (mask wearing in shops and public transport). The BBC reporting seemed to show a different picture from what we are experiencing. I'm off out for all you can eat spareribs with my potes tonight. Things here seem pretty normal. GLA DJF
