Thanks for the reply Spindok. Very insightful thoughts. There is huge volatility at the moment so sitting on ones hands or even selling are reasonable responses at these times. My mindset is to buy when I think things are being mis-priced especially if I think the reason is ultimately transient. I did the same back in 2022 when everything was selling off in the US, I went all in on the US market. Over the last 3 years I have slowly sold out of the US and gone all in to the UK market. It has worked pretty well overall but this however can go wrong, I hold quite a bit of DGE which I bought as it went down and down but it just kept falling. Eventually I stopped buying as there seemed to be no floor to the price. My preference is for larger more stable dividend paying stocks, I'm well aware that dividends are just the same as if I sold some holdings and not free money, but as a long term buy and hold investor I rarely sell. The steady stream of dividends gives me a 'sleep well at night' feeling. I think UKW is at or near its bottom but I could be wrong and many other value type stocks in the FTSE are oversold in the market as well. I never try to time the bottom or top of the market as that's a fools errand, although I do my analysis to try and gauge what I think is a fair price. Time as ever will tell.
