Sellers to right of them,
Sellers to left of them,
Sellers in front of them
Volleyed and thundered;
Stormed at with short and sell,
Bought the dip, held and well,
Into the jaws of Death,
As the price stalled and fell
Rode the six hundred.
Didn't end well for them to be fair. Excuse the half-assery.
So price is 45.5p at close. Market jumps at open to 46p. Over the next 2 weeks it rises to 49p.
Investor thinks "I better sell my holdings at 45.775p to fill that gap before someone else does!"
Why would they think that? If that occurs there is now a "gap" between 49p and 45.775p, or is there still a gap 45.6 to 45.775?
It seems this is believed to be psychological, and strong enough for investors to not take the best sell or buy price they can and instead "be unique" by picking a price that hasn't been used before.
Can gaps be filled in advance? If the share has already traded in the range 45.5 to 46p is there a "need" to revisit that range again?
"It's a gap - gap closing is a tradition"
... Ok, I actually would like someone to give me their reasoning. I don't believe it, but I've not said anyone is wrong - I could be wrong but can't understand how. So will leave this as an open question for anyone who is able to articulate actual reasoning rather than "tea leaves say so".
"I belive in Lloyd’s Gaps will get filled, but have no
Idea when they will."
Why? I'm honestly just looking for a reason. Is there a time period?
If the market jumps on open then what is the mechanism or psychology that ensures an investor later trades at a price that was missed in that jump? And what is the minimum range of a gap? Must there be trading at every .01p or .001p?
With all the buzz I'll be unsurprised if we see 50p next week. Personally hoping for a special dividend, as I need to sell half my Lloyd's before tax year end to move that into my ISA, and I doubt I'll be rebuying.
"I'm going to bail a lump after the 11th November couple weeks before yanks shenanigans again."
Interesting... I think I'll keep that in mind. I assumed they'd make a fuss but carry on as usual, but who can tell the future? Something to think about.
"Let's have a competition the actual day Lloyds hits 50p wot say get Asp on it just for bit of fun and clever cloggs stuff ."
