Auspicious that Deutche with their bucket load of euros have made this purchase just before Brexit deal/no deal decision. If you had a bucket of euros would you buy now if you thought that a no deal was likely and £ would tank against euro ? IMO - they have their money on a deal and fact that this is last buying opportunity before £ strengthens as result of deal. Got to be a Buy.

Chief Information Officer leaving during middle of systems implementation ? Really ? Unless its for personal reasons, this sounds like implementation dates have slipped, IT costs now much higher than planned or promised benefits of new system seen as exaggerated. Sounds like a typical IT project to me.

Must admit to having been re-assured by July RNS which stated :
"The implementation of the new digital platform is progressing well and is already being rolled out, to be operational in H2 2018/19. Once introduced, we expect the new platform will improve the booking experience, attract new customers, enhance our customer relationship management and assist in revenue management".

Think the CEO is seriously overpaid at £1,400,000+ (increased by 20%+ in past year) for presiding over this fiasco and worse still, cynically trying to bury it on a bad market day !!! My two pennyworth - many articles in press mentioning today's 2p divi payment (first for 10 years). Interestingly, further confirmation or earlier news "Even after Friday's payment, the bank has excess capital which it plans to return to investors, possibly via a special dividend or share buy back". So it is looking good, one way or the other ...

Think Berenberg got it right - 950 looks fair/low to me.

Surprised Skeena deal not subject to RNS. Would have expected one by now, and believe sharp rebound could result. Think poor performance last week was due to being tipped by Motley Fool - their tips are always the kiss of death ...

Despite sp tanking, DEB is still the 2nd most shorted stock at 11.75%. Clearly, bottom not yet reached ...

There is not much shorting here - just 2.9% from 4 funds. In fact, its the 73rd most shorted stock. Forecasts show divi cut to 7.38 for 2019. IMO sp reflects analysts believing MARS is ex growth.

On a more positive note, stumbled into Hobgoblin Gold in Poppy Fields pub in Kent (not Afganistan). Great beer. Did not know there was a Gold version of Hobgoblin.

Noticed in the press today that Drunker, the famous EU drinker / chairman of EU, is spouting off about how UK planes will not be allowed to land in the EU. Simply impossible to know whether this is booze talking or has some legal substance.
PS talking to an Irishman other day was surprised to hear that when Drunker met Irish delegation, he was completely inebriated, eyes watering and slurring his words. Even the Irish were shocked. Furthermore, when Drunker met US president, he apparently needed to be held up by his aide ! (Drunker not Trump). Would you believe anything this man says ? Sadly, as the saying goes, when alcohol goes in, the truth comes out ...

Had not expected RED to pass the begging bowl around quite so soon, but wait with interest for developments and possible price dip next week.
