Sorry Vamosbien - I mean convert wind to Hydrogen and feed it into the Gas Grid (St Fergus for Scotland) or utilising Rough storage etc and feeding in to the gas grid - either to use in more locally sited CCGT or actually as direct gas replacement. I know there is the conversion inefficiency cost - but that hasn't been properly impact assessed against the cost of the transmission/distribution reinforcement and retrofit.

Yeah, I guessed that Vamosbien. And yes, I understand that too. But that is why I favour a stablegrid style solution rather than the bootstraps/pylons and mass electrification for heating/transport. I've posted before about my neighbour needing to upgrade from single phase to 3-phase and I know the distribution reinforcement hasn't even been considered in all this so far.

The tag of green to that project rankles with me though, considering the carbon cost of producing all the steel and concrete, not to mention the environmental landscape damage being caused. It cannot be done to introduce the new charging mechanism - the existing industries are not going to relocate operating plants - consumers cannot move and sell home and live in tents (there are not enough homes to make it feasible). Locational charging does nothing, can't pick 2 million people up out of London and move them to the Highlands of Scotland (even if social engineering by London councils to re-locate low income families is trying to do this).

Well 2 contract and 2 selected suppliers in May got a 3x re-rate so hopefully the mega selection 710MW + this contract will trigger something similar soon, especially if January sees some HAR1 contracts and HAR2 confirmation.

@Taskmaster - my issue with COP is that there have been 30 of them - to agree something that should have been agreed and acted upon at the first. Fossil fuels are bad, petrol/diesel fumes, smog from coal burning etc plastic pollution is all bad and all can be replaced (we don't need individually wrapped hard boiled eggs for goodness sake, they come with their own protective shell) etc.

It is just a talking shop that achieves Clarkson's Farm, when doing the sensible thing can be achieved by properly pricing things (transport costs for example) and supporting local production. That requires political will to drive change to the capital model for price reflection - that vested interests oppose. That is the tension.

Building it in the middle of a rainforest just highlights the hypocrisy.
