I really do think the army has had reassurance from the interim govt…..for them to issue that message Monday that the govt and armed forces are in tandem means to me anyway promises have been made,for that statement to be issued by one of Wakkar spokesperson and not him personally also says to the government we are going with it for now but watching you closely…….

The cuckoo govt can blag the main parties to get this over the line but the military has slapped them into shape and now stepped back to let them get it on track……..

Parties have partially agreed on some proposals. But more discussions are needed to minimise the difference in opinions or the methods of implementation. A clear deadlock has emerged. The reality on the ground is not particularly inspiring; disagreements over the election timeline are turning volatile fast.

The interim government has emphasised on key reforms before elections. A fast resolution is possible only if BNP, Jamaat-e-Islami and NCP radically change their position on key contentious issues, which is unlikely in the prevailing confrontational political situation. Can the deadlock be broken soon through the second round of talks set to begin in June?

An adviser to former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia said the sooner elections are held in Bangladesh, the better. The adviser also noted that the Army Chief has expressed concern about holding elections by December, as troops currently deployed for civilian and policing duties would prefer to return to their barracks.

So we have the bnp and 15x other Bangladeshi political parties crying out for a democratic election in Dec….along with the army who has put the interim gov on notice……we have the textile mill assembly comparing the environment to a civil war in 1971……we have had the Bangladesh revenue on the streets because of the interim govt attempt at reforms on their structure was ill thought out……we have teachers on the streets now and civil servants as more attempts at reform have backfired………and all the temporary govt can do is blame everyone but themselves!!……..

Referring to all eyes on the Army Chief’s statement following Sheikh Hasina’s departure on 5 August, BNP leader Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury questioned, “What’s the problem if the Army Chief now speaks in favour of returning to the democratic process?”

Citing the army chief’s proposal as a positive move, the senior BNP leader said, “He spoke about establishing democracy.”

“It is not possible to form a unity solely for the benefit of one individual. It is unacceptable to hinder democracy in the name of reform. The BNP spoke about reform seven years ago. Our 27-point agenda, along with those who participated in the simultaneous movement, later evolved into a 31-point agenda through coordination. Therefore, the call for reform is ours. Those who now speak of implementation — this is not originally their idea," the BNP leader said.

Yunus assumed grabbing every dollar he could would create interest with investors,he failed miserably to see investors do not invest in unstable environments……that environment hasn’t been created by bickering political parties it’s totally on the shoulders of poor administration misunderstanding the effect misfits running a country would have on the new money……..the business leaders are not only shouting at him to get digging they are telling the cuckoo’s it’s not working and our business environment will collapse if something isn’t done soon….General Wakkar is more than aware the lack of democracy is destroying morale

BNP senior leader Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury on Monday warned that the country's ongoing crisis will worsen further without an elected government, urging all to unite for the restoration of democracy through a credible national election.

“Let us remain united in the coming days to restore democracy. We want to bring back a democratic order in Bangladesh through a fair election. The more it is disrupted and delayed, the more our crisis will deepen,” he said.

The BNP leader made the remarks while addressing the 30th founding anniversary celebration programme of the Dhaka Reporters’ Unity (DRU) on its premises.
