The NCP are in the last stop salon and if they can discredit the electoral commission everything would have to be reset……these ideas are coming from the top imho (smiler)…..the electoral commission has been amazing and the speed it has completed its instruction has took the cuckoo govt/NCP by surprise……..we are now ata point elections could be done and dusted in December……..

NCP roadshow yesterday was a disaster…….they even delayed releasing their manifesto till dusk as there were not the crowd they expected……..all the action was at the bnp student demo….

The July Declaration has been finalised by the interim government after consultation with the BNP and other major political parties. These key parties have agreed to grant the declaration official and constitutional recognition.

As far as I can gauge the charter is the reforms,when it’s signed the cuckoo government will work to implement the most important reforms as it doesn’t have time to complete everything and the next govt should work through the rest…….I’m flabbergasted these reforms are being argued over by parties that won’t have a prayer come a democratic election…..they should earn seat’s from the people equaling a vote in parliament……this July charter is no more than a game of pick up sticks and any party can play……..

Just a quick one to peruse this morning…….reference from last night’s article ramps up domestic coal production from 1mln tons at Barapukuria Bangladesh only mine….to 10mln tons?….let’s see,that’s a lift of 9mln tons per annum??…..that’s not going to come from Bara as it’s already on the back foot with pricing and structural issues in and around the pit….so that leaves the only project ready to go with all surveys and research completed to date,money on the table to start it and most importantly 9mln tons??……Phulbari was estimated to be able to produce 15mln tons per annum at its peak production,I would say 9mln tons per annum is a nice starting figure for the Phulbari project?

Lastly going back to the 25/26 budget it did actually quote a ramp up in coal production,the statement was a bit obscure but it could now tie in nicely with the figure’s from last night?

Under any circumstances, the government should refocus on exploring gas at home. Exploration work for the idle onshore blocks can well be taken up on this score. In this connection, the interim government is learnt to have been prioritizing domestic gas production through drilling and workover of existing gas wells. To this end, it is reported to be working on drilling 100 wells and workover of 31 wells. And through all these efforts at exploration works and drilling, the government hopes to add 985 mmcfd to the national grid, while from workover wells between 400 and 500 mmcfd could be obtained. All these projections are based on drilling and workover of the onshore gas fields. Reworking of already explored gas fields has its limitations, too.

So, one wonders, why the government is not focusing its attention on the offshore gas blocks which may resolve the issue of nation's energy security. No doubt, exploration work and building the infrastructure for the offshore blocks are very capital-and-technology-intensive options. Those are hardly affordable for the government at present. International oil and gas giants can do the job. The point is to engage them in the actual work of exploration and development. Given the urgency, the government should reach deals with them based on the best incentives it can offer.
