A Panama-flagged ship carrying 70,000 tonnes of coal from Indonesia arrived at the Matarbari coal-based power plant in Maheshkhali of Cox’s Bazar on Wednesday morning.

As a result, the authorities are expecting to resume production at this power plant on December 1 after being closed for a month.

Saifur Rahman, chief engineer of Coal Power Generation Company, said that the unloading of coal has started from the coal-laden ship that arrived on Wednesday morning. This is the first shipment of coal imported by the Meghna Group.

So there’s no doubt there was a huge rally to obstruct the most sensible decision Bangladesh could have taken in the last 20yrs….but what has surfaced since the original demo is the fact demonstrations were arranged by ministers on the take!!…..no wonder it never got off the ground…..

I wonder if the green fanatics in govt really think they are not getting their hands dirty by importing fossil fuels!!….I really wonder if they think where does the imported coal and gas come from?….and if we are importing this stuff with huge diesel powered container ships could it be greener to keep the issue local with own produces fossil fuel!!……..how can you not give it a thought as to the origin of this fuel??……..if they don’t there’s some serious delusional green cuckoo land going on!!

Bangladesh owes US$348 million in outstanding bills to the international oil companies (IOCs) and the LNG suppliers, officials said.

The Ministry of Finance (MoF) and the Energy and Mineral Resources Division (EMRD) officials said the amount fell due to different LNG suppliers and IOCs working in Bangladesh.

"We have sought funds from the MoF to pay the outstanding bills and import LNG in a bid to meet the country's daily energy demand," said an EMRD official.

Since Bangladesh needs to procure LNG to meet the local fuel demand, the government has to clear huge bills for the purpose.

All draconian laws, including the Indemnity Act, will be repealed in the power, energy, and mineral sectors. The rampant corruption in purchasing electricity from the anti-people quick rental power plants will be halted to prevent further turmoil of the national economy. Adequate steps will be taken to promote renewable and mixed energy-based power generation. Steps will be taken to explore and utilize the neglected gas and mineral resources to reduce import dependence. Investment-friendly policies shall be introduced to attract both domestic and international investments, while giving special incentives to encourage business with expatriate Bangladeshis. A planned and well-coordinated industrial infrastructure will be developed nationwide to support economic growth and create jobs.

This mornings rns immediately piled on as negative with quite an intensity!!…..from my experience doing battle in this lowly arena that makes me smell something fishy……I personally think there’s now room for someone influential to step in…….it would take so little to propel this stock northward….watching closely…….1.6p doesn’t cut it for fund raising…..!!
