Stating that the national election can be held between August and October, BNP senior leader Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury on Sunday alleged that the government is focusing on everything except their main task of arranging the national election.

“Why aren't they (govt) doing the work they need to do? They need to immediately declare an election roadmap, give themselves time for that, and focus entirely on the election,” he said.

Talking to reporters at a city hotel, the BNP leader also said the government is doing everything except working on the election. “Who has given them the responsibility to do everything? That is the question.”

He said it may take a week, a day, or even a few hours for the government to announce reforms on which the political parties have reached consensus.

BNP senior leader Nazrul Islam Khan on Friday said the national election must not be delayed as the people’s fundamental right to vote cannot be compromised for the convenience of any political party or to give it time to reorganise.

“Some may need time to organise their party, others may need time to gather allies and friends. That’s why the basic human rights of the people to vote will be delayed. This cannot happen,” he told a discussion.

The BNP leader said they believe that their demand—to hold the election by December—is entirely logical and no one has been able to present any reasonable proposal or argument against it.

“That is why I reiterate—there is no alternative to political power, and no substitute for an elected government in addressing, confronting, and resolving the various challenges facing this country. The sooner our interim government understands this, the better,” he said.

I’m aghast at how this unelected bunch of cuckoos are freely making law!!!…..on who’s authority are they acting??……..not one of these doctors in their high chairs are elected!!……..it’s set me going again as these plonkers have banned eucalyptus and acacia tree’s from being planted!!……I would imagine they are an easy source of fast growing firewood for the very poorest of Bangladeshi society and it’s now ok for these poorest of society to maybe get Grammeen loans to buy firewood or get a gas connection for non existent gas 🙄……I’m at a loss with these executive orders….I think they must have a roulette type wheel full of cranky policies and which ever one it lands on they enact it
