Their interim report headline statements said "profits down 54.5%" but that they still expected"modest growth for the full year". Some major projects about to come on line in the new year. They seem committed to renewables but buy-in some power from nuclear power stations. (All new nuclear power stations being built mainly by the french and germans?) Interestingly I met a physicist recently who said nuclear was the only real option for the future. I am absolutely no expert on financials and don't know the covenants they have but there seems plenty of money available but not yet utilised. What do you reckon fjp sp will rise just before year end results?

Thanks for your post. I agree that these look good for the long term but I'm a newbie so you are best reviewing fjp's comments; particularly his point about windfall taxes and their accounts. Did you take a look at the half year report ? Are you still holding?

Funnily enuff I have been told, in my life, that I think like a man and shop assistants tell me I'm the only woman they have met that hates shopping...I much prefer a glass of wine and a bit of lunch (now there's a scary thing..a man's mind in a woman's body who wears stilettos one minute and wellies the next ..it's castor and pollux all over again...and I don't mean Denbee ) . I guess it's based on history...too much time being the only woman in management meetings! I'm with you on the forthcoming events. Remember fjp copying is the best form of flattery..so cheer up! Thank you so much for the steer. I see they do seminars on IG so that's my next step. I agree this is the time for re-invention for people like me and I'm ready for the challenge (but will start slowly). Good luck to you and I'm sure many will be grateful for your posts.

Actually I enjoy your banter. Still trawling through the old portfolio (half our stuff's with the accountant) and getting ducks in a row to buy in when market a bit clearer. Still newbie but learning. Looking at oil re China and Russia. In China recently and heard they were focussing on investing in infrastructure..huge population therefore enough internal market to weather this storm. Put in a question to Mark expat but if I don't hear back will contact a friend of mine who'splugged in over there. P.S. Wasn't a boy last time I looked ! LOL

fjp73 and rodders - have got some of these. Re todays news and forecast for next half with oil/gas prices down I am inclined to hold onto these. What's your view ? I know it is a bear market and you have already disposed of most of your holdings but would appreciate your input. Please don't fight tho'...I just can't take it !!
