Left you a msg on HOIL (Heritage Oil)...I know you like tickers and names!
Thanks for the response. On the blog I posted a link which estimated there was more than enough lithium. That said I'm going to look at hydrogen cars as well as it seems to humble me that they may offer the best green solution. However, it could be that they do not get that solution fit for market in time. Best wishes. Re your league table I'm not sure I have much to offer. My "punts" are at a given moment in time and not on the first day of the month as I'm often diverted on other matters. As it 'appens for May date I'm busy too!
The only mention I can find with Rio is their 2008 annual report "Exploration" document which said, at that time, they were considering divesting themselves of a lithium borate project in Serbia (which they say is the largest outside South America) as it was a non core but valuable asset. I don't know, however, whether they did dispose of it or not. Ta ta.
If lithium-ion battery cars do take off then I would have thought some lithium miner would be represented on the London Stock Exchange. Do large miners like Rio have interests in lithium as a side operation?
Sorry to post this on axe board but I couldn't find UK lithium producer either and did post the Chilean company on the lithium blog (obviously no-one's reading it). Might give it all up.
No I didn't see the programme, unfortunately, but I'll see if it is on-line. I've followed up the blog with "more on lithium" and information I've found researching it; hopefully it will appear next week. I'd really appreciate it if you could post your research on the blog :0). Have a great Easter. Best wishes.
I have just seen a news alert which says that some wind farm developments are under threat due to increased costs of imported turbine components due to the weakness of the pound. British Wind Energy apparently say that it will jeopardise or delay projects and they are approaching the government for support. :0(
long time no hear! I trust you are doing well. SSE has been up and down a tad but pretty steady. Re windmills it seems many countries are thinking about them especially in Europe. As for the blog I did ask LSE if they had the correct person (I thought they'd asked me by mistake)! It's a worry! It would be good if you could post the odd reply...your views on the market are just as relevant as mine if not more so. Best wishes and hope the menagerie is doing well. I'll maybe catch you on hsn :0)
Invidious behaviour is best ignored.
Hardy ha. (raspberries).
Did you sort yourself our with AV.?
Yes, the price dropped a bit didn't it? I was a bit surprised given all the positive news. I'm sitting on my cash for now to see how low can it go (the stock market) and then will buy miners to begin with if the markets don't tank to new lows. If the market de-stabilises further then I'll go for precious metals (spot is on the up again). I am currently looking at the posts of Cronus and Paranoia Blue as they have the expertise on gold. (They are posting on AVM if you haven't looked lately). Best wishes.
Good calls; you were both absolutely correct.
Hi there. Saw an article about wind turbines which is a few days old (I spent the weekend in hospital with my son who managed to badly brake his wrist and his front tooth on a school outing) so I'm way behind on the news. (Hope you did the banks today...I had a disagreement with my brother-in-law as to which bank would do best today...I won!). Anyway the article said there are no indigenous producers of wind turbines in this country and the key is providing parts, to the German and Danish manufacturers, as you said. I haven't had time to look into these but they mention PPG Glass Fibre who make special fibreglass for the blades & HMG Paints who make hard wearing paints. They also mention Bendalls Engineering in Carlisle who are "at the forefront" of designing turbines for tidal power and that a private developer "Peel Energy" has plans for the Merseyside scheme. This info is probably not much good as I don't know if they are just private companies but will research them tomorrow if I'm not continually assisting my lad and checking he's "support"ing his hand. He will no doubt be "resist"ing me as always. All the best.
That was really sound advice. :o)
