Don't know much about 88e but seen it mentioned here as a comparison a lot - its not a them vs us scenario, never understood that but to be honest, I hope they do well - the more winners we have in the market the better for everyone - brings liquidity.
I think today marks a seismic change in COPL - I understand there are many investors who feel let down by Art but it was an exploration company - the way to survive is to dilute. Looking forward now, we are sitting on the motherlode of all finds and Art is preparing the company for big things. We're LSE, not AIM, he has raised to survive, he has now aligned both Canada and UK with the consolidation - he is on then brink of CUDA acquisition - thus making us profitable on a relatively low bopd. Just when you think it couldn't get better, he's discovered 1.6B bbls of light crude oil. This is starting to look like the start of something very special . The buy in today shows his intentions and his confidence in the company. Whatever has happened in the past was done to get to this point - don't let the past cloud your judgement. It was the building bricks and at 35p its a steal. The LTH have yet to see a return but its not far away now. The proof of the pudding is in the eating and we will see how things pan out going forward, however, he's put his money where his mouth is today - actions speak louder than words in my book. GLA
I agree with you Noob. You need to ringfence the discovery for now, continue as before adding value short term by acquiring CUDA - get the bopd up to a decent level, thus absorbing the debt and adding to the bottom line. The discovery will take care of itself given the size but it would put us in a very strong position if a major were to come along. We don't need to sell, if we can prove to any prospective buyer we can make it work with current ops then we can make it work (albeit on a long term plan) with the discovery. All very much pie in the sky for now but we need a clear plan and strategy. If it were me though, given the size of discovery, it would be my priority to get the SP up to a decent level in order to build the business, for that, Art will hopefully lean heavily on Nigel for direction.
I come from a finance background and in normal circumstances I would agree with that, consistency is the blueprint for any valuation - so how many oil exploration companies are profitable?? I've always been told the market is 6 months ahead, it builds in probabilities - there is nothing built in here. There's no doubt that some of that is our own doing i.e. placings and warrants etc. However, these are all done to add value, there comes a point when the Balance Sheet does need to re-rate. If the market needs a CPR then I concur - does the market not take a gamble on the probability? If the CPR comes up with zero barrels, we're no worse off? Yes, they'd be a sell -off but under current production we would get back to where we are now once the dust has settled. You just need to look at ADV - sitting on 5p on a probability - dived to cash balance value on a duster. This is the opposite - one thing which is clear, there is no consistency with the market, and its our job to seek the value when it rears its head. GLA
We've had volume and the computer algorithms keep on saying - no. Not allowed over 40. The SP has been under control for so long now - PI's get impatient -sell, trade and it becomes this anomaly. Value will come and it may happen when you least expect it. The reality is you part own a company with a reputable treasure chest of oil- circa 1.6B Bbls - proven reserves -lets say 20% which is low ball imo - this should be in the £3-£5 - if you want to sell your shares for 10% of real value - go ahead - I'll wait and accumulate - the smart money will be hoovering these babies up...................................and wait.
