That sounds reassuring, but after all the turmoil involved with TLW over the last year or so, and the churning fluctuations in SP, 50p is a significant psycological barrier for many PIs. I'll be (pleasantly) surprised if we manage to finish at 50p or above.

.... will be a challenge atm as there'll be plenty of PIs with sell orders at the 50p mark. As for me, I've had many sleepless nights over Tullow and I'm only just at parity on the price I paid for a large chunk of my shares, so I'm holding for £1.00

As I understand, naked shorting is illegal in the UK.

I've just put a sell order on a big chunk of my shares with HFX at 100p. Anything is worth a try to shake off the scum shorters.

Not long before this falls under 29p ..... and then I'm topping up to get my average down, thank you very much !.

Fleccy, point taken, and yes all airlines are being damaged to one degree or another, including Ryanair. I just happen to believe that RYA will come out of this mess better than most others and profit as a result. I guess we both hope that will be the case. Regards.

Hi Fleccy, I wasn’t necessarily suggesting that all the competition will ‘go to the wall’ and I fully expect EZJ and IAG to survive. However, their balance sheets have been particularly badly hit by cash burn & borrowing and they will have to carry that debt going forward which will impact their future cash flow (debt interest payments) and hamper their ability in the foreseeable future to invest and compete. In my opinion, that can only put RYA in a stronger trading position 12 months down the line, which is where the market generally tends to be focussed. I understand the points you make and take them with due respect, but I've never before heard an investor suggest that a company's balance sheet is irrelevant. I’m sure you didn’t mean to put it in such a blunt way.

RYA investors should remember that the competition is getting hit just as hard by current travel restrictions and it'll be the survival of the fittest at the end of the day. Ryanair have better balance sheet and can outlast rival companies in this sense, plus the newer & more efficient MAX aircraft will put them in a great position once restrictions do eventually ease.

I think the EIA report is due at 4.00 GMT. I'm waiting for that beore topping up.

Hi TradingPlaces, I agree that IAG's a great trading share, as is EZJ for the same reasons, and will continue to be for some time. I used to be an EZJ investor and have made good money off them in the past, as you have with IAG (well done !), but more recently I've moved into RYA (when the SP was around 10 Euro prices) because I believe they're the company that have the balance sheet strength and strategies to survive and thrive. Before the virus kicked in I used to mainly day trade and have always been confident I can make a decent profit when I know a share well and can reasonably predict its SP movement, but with the virus situation being so unpredictable and the markets being so volatile as a result, I made the decision to load-up with Value shares at low SPs a few months ago and now I'm just sitting back and watching them (incl RR of course) ride out this storm and I expect them to give me a very respectable profit 12 months down the line without having to do much more than keep a weather-eye on them day-to-day.

Nuri, I wouldn't dream of investing in IAG at the moment, they're a dog atm andnot likely to recover for a long, long time, but markets don't always look at business today & tomorrow, they look at where the business is going and losing your competition is always good for SP even if that business is months away. I have a significanr investment in RR and I'm holding for a much higher SP which I believe will take 12 months, or so to realise. If it does, that's a very health return on investment.

Norwegian pulling out of trans-altantic business to concentrate on short-haul. That's what's lifting IAG SP at the moment ..... a lost competitor for future business.

I'm waiting to see Marshall Wace drop their short by another .1% They're obviously trying to inch their way out, having reduced the short 13 times (by around .1% each time) between 20th. July and 7th. December. Since their last reduction on 07/12/2020 TLW's SP has been drifting marginally down so that they haven't needed to buy back shares, but now, because of the POO, the SP has jumped back up to similar levels to those when they last decided to reduce. So maybe they will make another reduction in the next few days ?. We've already had one shorter reducing thier position a little this week. Maybe they'restarting to get as nervous as I am about which way Tullow's heading !.

When POO is rising and TLW is making money by pumping oil, the only logical reason (in the absence of bad news, or a sudden recognition that the company is in dire straits) is that the SP is being shorted. Definitely a time to sit back, buckle up and wait for news next month (re. RBL) which should rid us of a good number of the 'parasite' shorters.

Looks as though POO starting to rise again. Let's just hope it's the start to a run which will root out the shorters - that's what we really need at the minute.

I think the drop in SP gives a fair assessment of what investors generally think about the update. With the solid financial position AV are in, this could and should have been a platform for a much higher SP today. At these prices, who'd blame anyone making a takeover offer.

Oil shares all dropping today, BP, RDSB, not just TLW. Remember, we've had some good rises recently across the board on the oil front so not surprised by the pullback today or the current TLW wobble, and who knows what manipulators / shorters are up to to protect their positions as we speak. My intentions are to hold, hope the situation steadies with TLW over the next day or so,and then watch it slowly continue to rise until the shorters start to feel the heat.
