The worst is over but IMHO it was necessary this pullback to the bottom.
The problem is for the ones holding averages above 150 because they will not recover losses in case of takeover bid unless they average down.... case of azValor for instance.
There will be an initial price offer in the range 90-100 for sure which will be rejected at the first moment by the board and sweetened to 110-115 circa Book Value per Share but not more.
The company is very attractive for bigger groups wanting to mitigate reserve impairments and lack of exploration but current market situation about oil prices below $75 is not helping to bid for higher prices.
Company's debt is not an obstacle in this case for a bid due to Tullow's credit rating is B+/B3 which makes its cost of debt very high 7%. Bigger groups have cost of debt below 3% so there is margin to reduce interest expense circa 100M$ and increase Free Cash Flow in such amount.
They say that the stock price has suffered mostly because some dividend funds sold stake when the company decided to remove the dividend and the problems problems in production have been empathised.
They stated also that the sector in general is undervalued in spite of oil demand grew 1% in 2019 (price did 34%) and reserves decreased more than new discoveries.... for instance all US oil sector capitalization is below Apple as single company.
AzValor is a spanish fund holding an important stake in Tullow Oil:
The text is original from the spanish source (sorry for not giving you translation but it is easy to understand):

BID would be in the 1,20 GBP range offering a premium of 30% on Book Value.
Once the asset writedowns and depreciations are known (and official) the bidders can launch the offer.
At this price TLW is an easy bid target and without any relevant shareholder it will be acquired very soon.
Based on last Co. Trading Statement and Operational Update.

MRD: Just taking the worst case scenario as good judgement
Repsol will not release any RNS about Carapa before year end because of financial issues.
They are interested in assets depreciations and write downs to reduce the Tax Bill for this FY19.

Sorry, SP are in GBP
---> 60$/bbl = 0.96 GBP /share
---> 68$bbl (current price) = 1.22 GBP / share
Current Valuation for 70.000 boepd (worst case scenario company's guidance)
---> 60$/bbl = 0.96$ /share
---> 68$bbl (current price) = 1.22$ / share
13% increment in oil price represents 27% in company's value (not linear) due to company's utilities and leverage.
Repsol has scheduled to finish drilling works in Carapa on December, 31st
So based in such information is expected to have preliminary results during the first week of January ( no RNS prior those dates)
The results would determine (but without significant impact) any bid price (90-100p) for Tullow by rumored interested acquirers (Total and Repsol)
Prepare for good news guys !
Their company Petrolin now owning 7% stake in Tullow have stake in Seplat Petroleum PLC which recently acquired Eland Oil and gas delisted tomorrow.
it looks like hostile takeover.
