craig, billy. im tenpted due to the rebased 15p divi for a 200p share and the huge property empire they own, buildings in every single town in the UK almost, must be a fortune in real estate to sell off if needed, almost always city centre based too so mega bucks. I shall have to look into the pension liabilities, BT's is horrendous. yield is so tempting even after a rebase to 15p/annum.

kno what you mean billy. ive always held limited stocks in high £ values the opposite of what is touted as sensible and done well over the years, but have recently diversified of late hence buying glen whom i consider a highly diversified company with fingers in more pies than a piemaker. However it just doesnt seem to work being spread, copper falls a tad and glen dives! what about grain or oil or cobalt ffs it compensates, or is supposed to but just isnt doing that at all. Glenda is a shopping basket of sectors in its own right and should always have a mix of good or bad news to float around on. Not so long ago these were north of £4, now we cant hold £3, 25% lower its crazy, and its not all trumpys fault either. i just give up, shame as ive just sold a house and have to find a home for another £250k - matress for a while i think.

right just got off the phone to HL as the barstewards paid the special divi into my account then took it away again ,

it turns out they paid prematurely and there os some confusion as to the tax treatment of the special dividend so that are talking to hmrc for a decision. it appears they dont know whether to treat it as a 'return of capital' or an 'overseas dividend'. so in the meantime they have took the funds back. i would imagine barclays and the kther brokers are having the same discussions. fecking idiots the lot of em.

actual divi (taxed bit) paid as a divi just like normal = 11.86 pence per share
special divi paid separately as a corporate action for some reason? 31.06 pence per share.

why they made it complicated i dont know.

ken, im the opposite mate, as soon as each of my tranches reach my buy in price for glen im releasing the monies for elsewhere. Have totally lost faith with glen this last 9 months or so and am sick of seeing it lag like a wet blanket, the reliable glen of old has long gone i feel and im sick of being trapped watching her do shi7. proper bag of nails she is.

just built a radio controlled A10 tank buster plane while been laid up. just gotta find somewhere to fly it now (and my 1.2m long spitfire one) as im too close to a military airfield lol. didnt fecking think of that when i bought the kits being a muppet.
