And do of course remember the dividend isnt really a dividend. Its a 'return of capital' so doesnt count againstnyour UK £2k dividend tax free amount. Although it does count aganst your CG (by reducing the cost price of the share).

Seems since they breeched the 200 area they have just been on a slow decline ever since, am wondering whether airlines are a better bet for growth even from current levels.

Mentioned on here a week or two ago now about a BP petrol station in my town that has been completely demolished, tanks dug up the full works, and redeveloped into a brand new BP petrol station. I've been looking for the plans to see just how keen the petrol companies really are on the provision of new EV infrastructure when building such a new station.
Well today i found the plans here https://planning.org.uk/app/5/QO7VARFGHVW00/ as can clearly be seen BP are fitting NO charging points at this new station. Given they are supposedly the latest neccesity it would make sense to build them into such a new build but it appears not.

Whilst searching i also found proposals here https://www.cornwalllive.com/news/cornwall-news/plans-new-marks-spencer-food-3259365 for a completely new BP station on the other side of the town. Its not started yet but likely to in a couple of years. That new station is planned to have 8 petrochem pumps and an eyewateringly high quantity of 2 EV charging points (initially) again on a totally brand new station.
I can only conclude from my investigations into my own town that EV's are quite clearly not to be dominating the roads anytime soon given so few charging points being constructed at the anticipated locations by a 'green' energy company.

im not so sure on hydrogen, i remember a university in Bham spinning that tale when i was in my early 20's. Im over 50 now and it still hasnt happened, wont be holding my breath on thatnone im afraid.

The plan for the batteries (iirc) is when they are knackered is to fit them in houses to store surplus generated solar. Yeah right, that sounds like a great way to 'dispose' off a load of hazardess metals on gullible householders rather than recycle them properly.
I hear you have to heat them to 1200'c (using a windmill probably lol) to burn off the metals and separate them out. Sounds about as green as a big lump of welsh anthracite to me.

The one 'greeney' thing we never here much about is what happens to all the tiny tiny rubber particles worn down off your vehicle tyres (inc EV's) that get rubbed off onto the road surface then washed down the surface water drains into the watercourses and eventually the sea. Lots of particles contained within 8mm of rubber tread.
The whole green agenda is full of holes really.
Need to control population growth to do any good, but thats not PC to do/say.

Telford was the same, created with huge levels of infrastructure as a commuter city for the midlands, and even today i know from my own experience two utilities are still far over capacitated (if thats a word).

Like you, i think the supermarkets are missing a major trick here. They have huge carparking sites where each of us go for hours at a time doing the weekly shop - just cant understand why they are not filling their car parks with EV points. Would be a far better way to provide mass charging in almost every city rather than rely on just a few repurposed existing petrol station bays (where we spend limited time anyway). Could cover the roofs with fully tax deductable green solar panels to even cut the grid demand a little. Seems a no brainer for me (even as a sceptic). I think the likes of BP/Shell better keep their eyes open to having that rug pulled from under them very quickly.

The only trouble with producing the electricity that we then go onto sell via new EV charging infrastructure is that we will firstly have to provide and pay for the new infrastructure to generate the electricity in the first place. I.e. windmills.
We are in effect spending capex to build TWO complimentary sets of infrastructre at the beginning of a supposed boom in EV vehicles. The capex costs will be enormous and initially at least until large scaling up is acheived the revenue will be low.
Then of course you have lots of people (inc me) that will hold onto their diesel car for as long as possible - EV doesnt work for my useage. At least shell will make a few quid from those sorts.
To be clear i hold a lot of both rdsb and bp, and am a huge sceptic of the current 'greeness' fad of EV

I live in Cornwall and work for one of the biggest employers down here who operate some of the heaviest electrical usage equipment/plants in the county. They obviously go the competative 'market' for their electrical supplier based on such heavy usage and i've seen some of the plants bills. You would have your mind bllown away if you see the amount of digits on the meter and the numbers concerned whizzing round - but they only pay a fraction over 5p per kw because of the heavy consistent demand.
Now i would imagine, with EV's sucking up a bit of juice, that similar to my employer there would be a 'bulk' deal to be had with regards pricing in the future as these units are rolled out all over the place. My only concern is in the meantime there are hardly any, and they are at the 35p Kw rate, with Shell standing 25% of the cost of the install (probably really 100% initially with a clawback of the 75% subsidy) - so a huge lag in any upside, as people will just not use them at that cost if they can charge cheaper at home. Thats what i see with the current crop of limited empty charge points.
Maybe in a few years (decade perhaps?) these pieces of kit and the resultant heavier usage by the public will enable a cheap rate of bulk electricity purchase for Shell to sell on and earn good revenue, they will then become economic - but by then of course the units will need replacing as they are superceeded/age etc so more capex to replace (and likely no subsidy)
Being first out of the gates is a noble approach, but in a long term race the initial leader at the start generally finishes well down the pack.

Always has a big 'swing' during the day as well, ideal to trade - if your short term and brave enough to risk it running away from you. Not for me though with the potential, a 100% holder.

See according to Sky news Shells Ubitricity is planning on funding 50k lampost type charging stations to assist the local authorities in rolling charge points out.
Not so sure i like the idea of my years earlier investment in rdsb being used to hasten its own demise/transformation for just the cost of the electricity actually used.
Every local authority charge station i see are always empty, due to the 35p + kilowatt cost.
Might be a way to steal a lead and gain market share on others i suppose, must be their thinking.

Pleased we have some more (at last) info, although i dont see it as particulary brilliant news, its simply an acknowledment of previous delays, with an explanation for why more are to come. Pleased to see DJ drilling are going to start extracting tant, to hopefully self fund that element of work in the future. Do wonder how they are to be paid in the meantime pre investement monies. Couple of queries for me to look into here. firstly how are DJ being paid pre-production, which is hinted at as several months away yet at least, secondly their experience as a miner - they are a drilling/roadbuilding contractor afaik, are they capable of extraction?m Thirdly, i recall both investors were individually going to stump up the investment cash, are they still planning to do this or share the cash input?
Still its some news - they must have been reading the dissapointment outlined on here of late.
